English to Burmese Translation for Burmese Maid

I have a Burmese maid for nearly 05 months, however I am still have communication problem with her and she is quite forgetful.


When she said she fully understand my instructions, however she did the wrong things.

Just to check if there is any English - Burmese translation available so that I can communicate with her better?

You can buy the dictionary from peninsula plaza. Try writing your instructions down. They read better than they speak. I used to even draw it out for my ex-Burmese maid eventhough she is U grad major in chemistry!!

My Myanmar maid is not well educated, so she can't even read her own language. I have tried online translation, but seems helpless. I need alot of patience with her :?:

Perhaps demonstrating to her so that she can see may be better. That is what I had been advised by others and what I do as my maids are always fresh and poorly educated.

My brother told me his maid will be arriving next month...mid to late Dec. He added, 'have to be very patient with her'. I pity him...first time father, fresh maid...although SIL will be the one looking after baby mostly.

Congrats. Twins? I know a SAHM with 1 toddler who needed to hire another part-time helper to help cos the Myanmar maid cannot cope. Supposed to be experienced but very slow in doing work.

If can, ask agent to tell her to bring her own translation dictionary over. It is quite expensive here, think about $20 or so. Luckily, my ex-Myanmar maid brought hers, lasted only 5 days with me so happy I did not buy.

nope...my sincere apologies for not making myself clear. not 2 babies :oops: I meant 1 newborn and 1 freshie maid.
1 set of first-time parents.

I showed her how to do it or I showed her the action. The only English word she knows well is "dangerous", rest of the words, feel she is selectively knowing/not knowing. Speak very slowlyand if I am using (what I think is) more difficult words, I use the dictionary and let her see the Myanmese explanation.


Think it is a matter of heng suay as to whether they are willing to learn. Mine is a lazy one with bad temper and attitude. Cut corner by not drying bathroom floor properly resulting in DH having a very nasty fall. 3 weeks and still not recovered. I have negative tolerance for failure to maintain safety standards - doors must be properly catched, pot handles must be turned in, floor must be dry, …

I have friends with quite good ones so it is really a matter of luck. I have seen biodata of "experienced" maids who survived 2 years with regular change of exployers so the quality is quite obvious for some.

How is your hubby? Oh dear, he must be feeling lousy. Hope he recovers soon. Have you sent maid off? She is not worth keeping bcos she doesn't believe in safety.
