Hi,


Just wondering if anyone know of some T scores results of students who got A* for Maths and Science, then A for English and B for Chinese?

My dd's turn for psle has yet to come, but I can see that she's heading in that direction as she's aiming for A* for maths and Sci, but her languages getting A or B as she is not that good in her languages.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

A 'B' would pull PSLE scores down by a lot. Try to bring your dd's Chinese up to an A. More than 80% of all students score minimum A for Chinese, so it is do-able.

A 'B' would pull PSLE scores down by a lot. Try to bring your dd's Chinese up to an A. More than 80% of all students score minimum A for Chinese, so it is do-able.

Thanks jtoh for your kind advice! I will try to encourage dd to do better in her languages. It's worrying. U see, her classmates score 15 to 18 upon 20 for compo while she struggles at 13.5 marks ... :sad:

IMHO perhaps your DD should get both enrichment and 1-1 tuition. It helps. The enrichment gives structure and reinforces what the school teaches, while 1-1 is to identify and focus on weak areas to build up.

Do you mind sharing how you started to improve? Was it becos your school chi teacher helped you in compo writing? Or you 开窍？Or other reasons?

In primary school since P4 my chinese was always in the 50-60+ range, never see 70+ before. But I still got A for PSLE for Chinese, so it’s really not that hard to get an A.

My mom and Chinese teacher helped me in writing. My phrasing was awkward and I wrote in baby words. They taught me internals, 成语 and few other good phrases to use in my compositions.

Though if you just use them at P6, they probably will just get you a 30/40 or so since they are common and very ' cliché '.
