      Oppsgal:
Mine also don't like CC. Lots of tantrum before school. Ask my kid why, say nothing to do. :faint:

Did you check about the curriculum offered at the Childcare centre and lesson plans? They should show you upon your request. Beware if they do not show you. That may indicate the child care is new or the teachers turnover rate is high that nobody prepare the lesson plans. Children in Childcare spend most of their time on routines and meals. Wasted time. If possible, transfer to a kindergarten. The hours at childcare may be too long for a child to wait for mummy to fetch the child. Some Childcare centres said the children learn through play. What play? Leave the toys there and let the children play among themselves? Usually these kinds of child care will not provide much academic work to the children. Source around in the neighbourhood and recommendation will lead you to a good preschool.

Ds was in an expensive Montessori for a yr, even with 1:10 ratio, not much learnt. After switching to preschool, he learnt much, though 1:25 ratio. The teachers and the environment count.

My N2 ds learnt nothing much at his CC after 1 yr, let him watch Leapfrog Letter factory and Talking Words, he recognizes 90% of the letters and sounds in 2 months. I had done a check before and after he started this DVDs, and was amazed. Thanks to Tamarind village's Blog for the recommendations.
        😓

Thank you for your input: Our Jolly Companion, sembgal, phtthp, Oppsgal, and WondersMom!

I have tried coaching him at home after work and after he got back from school… One letter per day and so far he is able to recognise most if not all of the letters in the Alphabet.
I have asked him many times why he doesnt like school? Is it because he doesnt like his friends? Or teachers? Or hours too long? He cannot verbalise the reason to me… But I think it’s because he finds the hours too long, no school holidays, whereas all my cousins’ kids go to "normal" PAP kindy with school holidays and shorter hours so during school hols my cousins take leave bring the kids out…
Maybe he doesnt like to be in school all year round??

As per discussed with my hubby, we have also enrolled him in a better kindergarten, a normal 4-hour program in a SPARK accredited school with English Speech & Drama enrichment lessons.

Hopefully the new environment is more conducive for him to learn and make him a happier learner.
