      KOOLMUM:
      Container A and Container B are identical. Container A is 2/3 filled with water while Container B is 1/4 filled with water. The total mass of Container B and its contents is 5/6 as much as the total mass of Container A and its contents. The total mass of the two containers with their contents is 2750g. What is the mass of each empty container?

      :imcool:
      Hi,

      http://i44.tinypic.com/34dq0m1.jpg\">

      BTW,

      Container B + Its contents = 5/11(2750) = 1250g

      Then, C = 1250 - 3(50) = 1100g

      Regards

        There were some sweets in boxes A,B and C.

        Box A contained 1/7 of the total number of sweets in box B and C

        The ratio of the number of sweets in box B to the total number of sweets in box A and C is 3:1
        If there are 30 more sweets in Box B than Box A, find the total number of sweets in Boxes A,B and C.

        :scared:
        Any kind soul, can help me?
        Hi,

        A : B + C
        1 : 7 (total ๐Ÿ˜Ž

        B : A + C
        3 : 1 (total 4)
        6 : 2 (total 8, so total unchanged)

        So,

        A : B : C
        U : 6U : U (total 8U)

        B - A = 5U --> 30
        U --> 6

        Total = 8U --> 8x6 = 48

        Regards

          Jane went shopping at a departmental store. If she buys 6 plates and 10 cups, she will have $12 left. If she buys 10 plates and 6 cups, she will need another $ 8.

          a) Given that a cup costs $3, how much does a play cost?
          b) How much does Jane have?

          :nailbite:
          Can someone help?

            Mary and Alice had a total of 1020 marbles.After Mary gave away 1/2 of her marbles and Alice gave away 84 marbles, the ratio of the number of Mary's marbles to the number of Alice's marbles became 5:3. What was the ratio of the number of Mary's marbles to the number of Alice' marbles at first :lovesite: :? :thankyou: :udaman:

              Hi, can anyone please help with this question?

              Observe the following statements:
              A+B+C=26
              A-B=6
              C-B=2
              i) Insert a pair of brackets ( ) in the number statement below to illustrate the correct working order to find the value of A
              26 โ€“ 2 โ€“ 6 รท 3 + 6
              ii) what is the value of A?
              Thanks :?:

                Fang had some boxes of fruits for sale. She sold 35 boxes on Monday. She sold 1/5 of the remaining boxes of fruits on Tuesday. Then she had 1/3 of the total number of boxes of fruits left. How many boxes of fruits did she have at first?

                    method 2

                    http://i40.tinypic.com/f56btf.jpg\">

                    method 1 preferred, as for most students, it is easier to derive the ratio units in method 1, than draw the model above for method 2.

                      (26 - 2 - 6) รท 3 + 6
                      ...(26-2-6) gives 3B

                      A = 12

                        Using equal fractions method:

                        4/5 remainder = 1/3 Total = 4/12 Total
                        Total -> 12 units
                        Remainder -> 5 units
                        7 units -> 35
                        Total -> 35/7 x 12 = 60

                        cheers.
