        i) Insert a pair of brackets ( ) in the number statement below to illustrate the correct working order to find the value of A
        26 – 2 – 6 ÷ 3 + 6

          Fang had some boxes of fruits for sale. She sold 35 boxes on Monday. She sold 1/5 of the remaining boxes of fruits on Tuesday. Then she had 1/3 of the total number of boxes of fruits left. How many boxes of fruits did she have at first?

              method 1 preferred, as for most students, it is easier to derive the ratio units in method 1, than draw the model above for method 2.

                ...(26-2-6) gives 3B

                  Using equal fractions method:

                  4/5 remainder = 1/3 Total = 4/12 Total
                  Total -> 12 units
                  Remainder -> 5 units
                  7 units -> 35
                  Total -> 35/7 x 12 = 60

                    Just wondering. . For some Fractions Ratio why must we change the numerator to common multiple?

                    Eg. Lyn and Jen had 160 marbles. After LYN SOLD 3/5 Of her marbles , Jen sold 4/7 of hers, they had the same no. Of marbles left.
                    How many did Lyn has at first?

                    The Model Answer gave step 1 as changing the numerator to the same numerator. Why must they do that?


                    Another qn also same step 1 : 2/3 of Shaun's money is equal yo 4/5 of Micah's money. If Shaun gives $240 to Micah, yhey each will have e same amount of money. How much money does Shaun have? How much money do they have altogether?

                      Keith had a number of books for sale. He sold 560 books on Saturday. On Sunday, he sold 1/5 of the remaining books and was left with 40 books. How many books did he have at first?
