Hi,
I'm a newbie here... Just went to the orientation this morning. I was so focussing on filling the forms... I forget about some crucial things... There's something I'm not sure of... It's said that later on Day 1, the students only need to bring the pencils & the parents need to gather at the bus bay f/ PTM... My question is, where should I bring my son to? There's no explanation about this on the checklist. Does it mean that the kids will be having full school time hours on Day 1 & Day 2? Or does it mean that the kid will be going together w/ us like today at the orientation day? Anyone can enlightened me here? Thanks before hand. :)))

RE: [Bukit Batok] Primary Schools
Hi, BonaFides
I think you should call up the school to find out. The notification letter should be sent to you in about 1 month after the registration date. Don't worry so much. I think it's just a matter of slight delay in sending the letter. But imho, you can always call up the school to find out & to have peace of mind. :))) -
RE: [Bukit Panjang] Primary Schools

Sorry I should have been explicit just now, what I meant was 302/270 is 111.9% not 119%.
Ahhhh... Yes, you're right. So both B n GPS is 112%. Interesting. They're in the same rank.
My apology f/ the mistakes...

Ahhh... If you're talking about the stats f/ stage C only, you're right, Beacon & GPS is similar, oversubscribed by around 25%-26%.
Perhaps there is a rounding error in percentage for GPS, should be 112% as well. Was just thinking mathematically both are oversubscribed by the same 25% in Phase 2C, so the overall total should also be quite similar too, isn't it?Alkanet:
You're right. That's why I said Beacon this year is more popular than last year.
But comparing the popularity of the 3 schools this year (according to the numbers of applicants (popularity) this year):
1. BPPS
Total applicants 327 from 270 seats = 121%.
2. GPS
Total applicants 302 from 270 seats = 119%.
3. Beacon
Total applicants 269 from 240 seats = 112%.
So I was just saying the stats...
But the data above that I gave is f/ the total seats fr stage 1 to 2c.
Good luck f/ all who are going through balloting on stage 2c. Wish u all da best!

Lol... I never took BPPS into consideration as popular cos that is a well-known and established fact.Alkanet:
seems like Beacon is more popular this year than GPS.
Beacon surely gaining more popularity than last year. But comparing to GPS, I think GPS is still more popular than Beacon.
But the top rank is still BPPS. :rahrah:
Another thing I want to mention is last yr Beacon balloted for 1-2km and this year <1km.
You're right. That's why I said Beacon this year is more popular than last year.

to qualify for PEPS phase 2B, you have to go grassroots. they don't accept PV.Alkanet:
how popular is Princess Elizabeth? Seems like there is a huge demand for it. Thinking of sending my kid there next year.
It's an old school, well established. That's why around 50% of the seats has been taken at the earlier stage. Yes, huge demand for it. Can check from MOE website here: http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/#bukit-batok
If you're keen on sending your kid there, perhaps you can check w/ the school whether they hv PV scheme. (volunteering) so you can apply on stage 2B.
and you have to be within 1km to participate in balloting if you going for phase 2C.
Ouupsss... Sorry I didn't know tat... Thx f/ the clarification.

RE: How do you control TV or computer time?
Is there any guide lines, whatβs the normal hours spend on tv/computer f/ kids?
My son is 6 yrs old. He seldom watch tv coz his scheduled quite pack already. Heβs more into playing the legos. So if I let him watch TV, heβll be very happy n clap his hands. Hehehe
