      Thank you Funz

Mid year is over. 1 down. 2 more to go.

Some marked improvements noted while for others, have to fine tune affected areas.

AB, reading what you wrote above reminded me of when I went through DD's PSLE.

After going through DD's and DS's PSLE, I will say, if we tailor our expectations to our children's capabilities, guide them and back them up, the whole process is very manageable and a good learning opportunity for both parents and kids.

From your sharing, I do believe that both you and your DS will manage this milestone without much issues.

Chief, I don’t know actually. I am just in a ‘to do’ mode ie trying to address any possible weak areas that my DS1 has and thinking of strategies or solutions to work on them if any without over-loading him academically. No intention to DSA too.

As usual, this site has been a god-sent to me. The selfless sharings by so many of the members are truly very much appreciated.

I have been ‘window shopping’ for tuition centres with DS1 and he has attended 2 different holiday sessions but haven’t really signed up for anything yet. I am taking his lead in this area.

I intend to pass the whole of next year as normally as possible. Not easy I know but I will try. Life has to go on. I want to have this mindset that this exam is a journey, not a destination. So I will focus on continuing to provide a positive home environment for now. I guess his mental well-being is very important to me.

I am just taking one step at a time, and am trying to enjoy the holidays with my boys.

Not sure if I can post regularly yet. PSLE year in 2019. Bracing myself for the onslaught yet determined to maintain as much normalcy as possible. After all, its a journey, not a destination!

It can get quite frustrating dealing with elderly folks and their gullibility with regards to health fads.

Quite some time back, I received a call from Dad saying mum was suffering from palpitations, went to doc in the morning but she still feels unwell so asked if I can bring her to the hospital. Went to the hospital and she was warded. Series of tests were ordered and it was later confirmed that her electrolytes were out of whack. Sodium and potassium too low which is why she is getting palpitations and muscle weakness. All these was because she believed she needed to cut out salt, drink a lot of water and avoid red meat. She over did it and ended up feeling unwell.

MIL is another one. Over the years she has been following one fad after another. There was the chia seed craze, then the wheat grass craze, quite a few other craze and now, avocado craze. She mentioned that she eats like 1 or 2 everyday and keeps saying it is very good. She even saves and dries the seed to grind into powder and also consumes that! Avocado may pack some good nutrients but it is still a high fat fruit/nut. Even though it is good fats it's still fats. Each avocado, depending on size is about 20-30g of fats which is about 30-40% of your daily fat requirement!

I noticed that she seem to have lost a fair bit of weight since we last saw her a few weeks back. When they hit a certain age sudden loss of weight is not a good sign. Told DH about it but he just shrugged and say let her be. 🤷

My MIL’s low potassium caused her to fall and was hospitalized for a couple of months. She didn’t dare to eat banana because she said it gives her pain on her knees. She believes her friends and taxi uncles than doctors that studied medicine for many years :faint:

      LOL!

My MIL is exactly like yours. Taken in by fads.

Dr Oz is her go to.

Having meals with her is such a drag because I have to put up with her analyzing the ingredients and their health value ....
