RE: Do you allow yr DD to visit boy classmate home
Hi all mummies, thks for your advice and sharing. My girl is 17 and like some of you mentioned, sometimes it was a dilemma on my side cos I wanted to trust my girl and her friends and I also don’t want to put my girl in a difficult position and cause inconvenience to her and her friend.
#slmkhoo, I share yr view and had learn to let go as the kids reach certain age and are ready. I’m fine as long as there are adult ard but my husband is more concerned.😅 We hv our concern cos my girl was also more reserved.
As this time round, they basically met for fun and interest so we told her better to arrange to meet at our hse or at the other girls home and hv an adult at home. -
RE: Do you allow yr DD to visit boy classmate home
Hi, my dd recently in a casual group set up with her classmates to do some recording for fun. There are another girl and 2 boys in her group. They hv so far been to the other girls hse and ours too. The most recent they plan to go to one of the boy’s home. Well, we don’t really like the ideal of her going to another boys house. Well to us, it just don’t seem right and its not that we don’t trust her friend.
Hope to hear from any parents here of similar situation and can share your view. Thank you. -

May I ask if anyone know which collection centre give out the TraceTogether token which is a smaller size, flat oval shape and white in colour. Thks. -
RE: Networking Group - JCs General
Thks MMM and slmkhoo. Yes, I do agreed that it’s an advantage to take econ now and have less struggle later in Uni if she were to take up business related course. That’s why we are weighing the choice base on interest or a subject that would help and lighten her load in the future.
My dd is an avid reader and true she love discussing the content of books thus taking up E lit this far. She is quite open to both but to further E lit in A level would be a new challenge for her as what she told me. Thus I assume her heart is more lean towards E lit. I told her to follow her heart and study a subject of her interest seem a natural choice and will ultimately produce good result.😬🤔
So far she still not sure what course to pursue in Uni and also if the choice of combi would affect her chance in Uni. Thks for clearing my doubts and did feel more assure now. -
RE: Networking Group - JCs General
Hi, my dd is deciding on her A level combi at the moment. She most probably choose H2 Math/Chem/Geog but was in a dilemma if she should continue her E lit or take up Econ. May I know is it good to take up Econ at A Level now cos my concern is that she can still learn Econ in U later if she decided to go into Business course. Would there be any different or will it affect her chance of selecting any course of her choice if she take either E lit or Econ?
Hope to have some advise from any parents or students here. TIA -

Yes, MOE had confirmed thatAwonder:
HI, does that mean they are going to take in this years' 'O' level students?
implementation starting (take effect from) wef this year, 2018 GCE O level cohort batch (born 2002) :-
Hi, thks for the info. Yes it’s a great news for the students as they hv 2 more choices and benefit those who stay nearer to these 2 schools.
After O-level exam results are out next year 2019, whose expected date of O-level results release announcement is around (14 January 2019), thereabout :
JAE (Joint Admission Exercise) O-level applicants from various Secondary schools all over Singapore, who are interested in studying GCE A-level at Dunman Junior College, can apply.
As long as their L1R5 O-level results are able to meet the Admission Cut-off point (2019), for both Arts & Science stream JC1 (Junior College Year 1), they can enter. Next year (2019) market forces of demand & supply (# of vacancies or Total number of classes, allocated for JAE applicants), will determine the Admission Cut off point for Science / Arts stream, at Dunman and River Valley JCs.
The same apply to River Valley Junior College, as well.
This is great news, because MOE finally giving us back (returning us back) 2 more A-level bound destination Junior Colleges, by Transforming SAP (Dunman & River Valley High) into Junior Colleges, after removing (take-away / subtract) 4 JCs (namely, Serangoon, Tampines, Innova, Jurong JC), through the merging of 8 JCs -
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/8-junior-colleges-among-28-schools-to-be-merged
Students staying in the east, up to Pasir Ris / Loyang zone -
since there are going to be Total 4 Junior Colleges (including Dunman), to choose from, in the east :
will there be any changes to the Admission Cut-off point intake for JAE applicants, affecting or impacting (Victoria, Temasek & Meridian) Junior Colleges, as well as to Eunoia & Nanyang JC, both Science & Arts stream, next year ? In a way, this also kind of depend on the number of JC1 classes (vacancies) opened, at (Dunman & River Valley) JCs.
Next year (2019): we shall see !
forsee that these 2 new Transformed JCs going to be popular, because
they are SAP IP JCs, going to attract many good O-level candidates. -

HI, does that mean they are going to take in this years' 'O' level students?hip hip hurray ! At long last, finally !
2019 new changes
Dunman High & River Valley High finally at last start taking in O-level students, for their A-level in Year (5 and 6).
From today onwards (going forward) -
a)
lets call this school, \"Dunman Junior College\" , no longer just merely being a High school.
b)
no more so called miserable \"on-demand\" one, single O-level class, comprising a very small pool of candidates.
But, going forward, will open several full-fledged O-level classes.
goody, goody GREAT news reported !
