I would think both are equally good. My children learn both Weiqi and Chess. Somehow, they prefer Chess. The school always send them for competition to sharpen their skills.

It will be in early Nov 10. The briefing for the selected candidates is on 13 Nov 10.


How your kids find the GEP second round selection papers for
English, English General Ability, Maths and Maths General Ability ?

When PM talked talked about 7 new IP schools last night, these schools came to my mind.


Methodist Girls School
St Nicholas
Catholic High
Victoria Secondary
Cedar Girls or Crescent Girls (maybe both)

These are the O level Band 1 schools with only express stream with proven good results.

I believe it will be schools that have no normal stream.

Thanks for the feedback. I shall consent to my kids to drop their Grade 6 Theory.

I understand that Grade 6 Theory is a big jump from Grade 5 Theory. My kids refuse to continue with Grade 6 Theory. Can some piano teachers give me some insights ?


They have passed their Grade 5 Theory. They only want to continue with Grade 6 practical and move on to Grade7 and 8 practical.

I have a friend who send her kids to all kinds of tuitions classes. Her poor kids are occupied with tuitions even during school holidays. She spends $1k + mthly on tuitions. She is not well off, just average.


In the end, her elder kid did not do well for his studies and she was so miserable.

Her younger kid also struggles with studies but I heard the effort pay off for this younger kid as she got a trophy last year as she tops in class.
