Hi. Should I consider tuition for O lvl Pure Chemistry?
My son always tells me it's very difficult to grasp the concepts of that subject. I'm kind of at a loss as I'm unsure of what I should do to help him cope with the subject.

Tried reading his textbooks and I'm all blur.
hello. I think you should. I mean my kids previously are having problem with o level pure chem. even though I have a little background, it still very hard for me. I guess it helps for them to have an expert on the subject who could teach them.

I know one which has FREE trial classes for their first time students. maybe you could try and enroll them. and after that, let them evaluate if it could really help them out.

I think damage on eyes is irreversible because the cells in our eyes do not regenerate. maybe prevention from factors that increases damage to eyes must be employed and have the expert prescribe the corresponding medicine for proper treatment.

    • RE: All About Working With Children Who Are Weak Academically

it helps to also study what your student studies. so that you can both be interacting and maybe could help him/her to retain most important information. it do not necessarily mean you also have to calculate. maybe just some trivia you like to share with.

I remember there's an fb page that shares daily trivia to his audience. the focus subject is A and O level Chemistry. In that way, you can also impart knowledge to your kids. 🙂

    • RE: Listening to music while doing homework?

When I was a student, there are some moods/seasons that I listened to music while studying or doing assignments. It made me feel productive that way. My brother also does the same, his genre are usually metal/hard rock.

There was also a study done at our school during the days, the experimenter played several music genre (i think 5) and made the students study then answered a questionnaire, I just didn’t know the result if it is significant. But I think its the person who studies who can determine the music genre he/she is most effective while listening to it.

There are many tuition centers or tutors out there who have different ways of teaching or helping your kids. I think in the end, it really depends on the environment your kid is suited for. Question to ask will be whether your kid is able to do well in a group environment, or requires individual attention. In my case, i have tried both and find that my kid gets less distracted in a 1-1 setting. Thus, the next thing for me to consider is the profile of tutor that I want for my kid. This will be tougher and need to try it out sometimes, and also to understand the tutor's strength or teaching technique. Personally i prefer full - time tutor who I find generally are more dedicated and less disruptive in changing or adjusting the tuition time for my kid. I hope this simple process will help you in finding your tutor as that is what I did for my current science tutor for my kid.
Agree! To add on this idea, I think it would help if the student attends FREE trial classes (some tuition schools offer this) so that they can have first-hand experience of the tuition school before getting/availing to tuition school services. There are also small group teaching like 4-10 students in a class. I think it also helps that students have a \"group\" while learning so they could share ideas.

    • RE: Hiking with kids and the family

this is a really nice section of sharing outdoor activity with kids. I personally like to have my children reconnect with nature by going hiking. its also for them to be able to see in real the real world what they learnt from science textbooks and from the television. It also sparks their curiosity and excitement for knowing how nature actually works.

    • RE: All About Handwriting

yeah, bad hand-writing might become a problem because it is where a child can express his answer. He may need more practice until he gets the right stroke and it is readable, most importantly. and may be a set of "judge" (parents and siblings) can help him make it right.
