Hi can anyone give me some comment on sucess learning centre on creative writting. Wanted to send my son p4 there. Any recommend teacher. Many many tks.

      Hi optipooh,

My DD1 has recently joined eir P4 class too. At e moment, IM pretty pleased with eir materials. My DD seems to enjoy her lessons too. Her tr happens 2b e founder. She said tat she's pretty stern but able to control e class. I can't comment on improvement in results yet as she had only attended 3 lessons.

IM still waiting for enough students to start a new writing class for my DD2 (P1).

certainly a bad decision to 'opt out' from this forum. Why?

Positive feedback - get more business, more revenue for you. :rahrah:
Negative feedback - we help you identify your gaps and probs, so you can go back to your drawing board and improve your processes, manpower & course materials. :rahrah:

      a) Comments on tutors - we give your good tutors bouquets and lousy ones rotten tomatoes, so that you don't just hear sugar-coated stuffs from your own tutors, but the raw truth from end-users. By getting the truth, hopefully you don't retain the lousy ones and will instead promote the worthy ones. Is it not good?
      b) Comments on admin - we tell you if your service quality is up to mark so you can go level up your CRM and attract more customers.
      c) Comments on materials/homework/methodology - Is it not useful to you that end-users offer you candid \"training evaluation\" feedback that you need but don't carry out after each term? With our constructive feedback, you can then go tweak your content?
      d) Free marketing - now that you shut yourself out from this space, you need to increase your marketing budget, cos no one neutral is ever going to spread the word for you that you've opened new branches or started a new course. You just have to continue tutoring those who remain with you till attrition hits you some day.
      e) Alternative marketing channels - will be tough to get a bylined article on MSM as a pte tuition centre is not a childcare centre nor kindergarten which gets some PR mileage via ministerial visits from time to time. TV commercials will cost you a bomb. Other forums serve diff target audience, so you might just lose our eyeballs over time...:(

      just my 2 cts...
      jetsetter,

Though I respect their wishes, i dun tink tats wise. I rather noe parents' genuine feedback & improve on it then pretend nothing is wrong. In fact, I have recommended frenz to Tis Ctr. As parents, we gif due credit wen needed & express our concern as it affects our kids. A little disappointed wif Tis move

Exactly! I second cantbearit2. I remembered her positive comments earlier on. There was a period of time when there were so many positive feedback on lp (I contributed too). Then nobody reacted. Recently the less than favourable comments surfaced, and pretty soon, the thread was taken off.

      Bad move.

      Imami,

it only makes me more doubtful abt em lor.

I remembered the admin telling me that they focus a lot on writing cos writing is an important component.

So far, I received one call from the teacher, around the CNY period, to update on my child's performance in class and also to check if I have any queries to ask. I had no question for the teacher so it was just a short conversation.
      nicnac,

IM not so convinced abt how ey teach writing at e moment. :? Not sure if anyone has positive comments on tis.

      Lovinglife,

Is your child in \"pie\" or \"gie\" class ?
Is your p1 tr same as your child's k2 tr, or different ?

My kid's p1 (pie) class don't read newspaper cutting / discussion in P1 term 1. The p1 tr different from k2 tr.

Are there other P1 parents here, whose child do newspaper reading ?
Same class as lovinglife class ?
      phtthp,

My P1 DD's class oso has e newspaper reading but it's juz an article extracted fr newspaper. My DD does not fully understand e reading though (I test her 2 c wat she learnt).

My DD has also progressed fr P1 headstart to their P1 program. However, I still feel that their headstart program is much better. IM actually monitoring for another term.

Her current tr oso no longer brief us aft lesson. Wen i brought up to their front desk people, e tr address it in the next lesson. She felt it was not necessary to update aft every lesson. We can always check wif her aft each lesson if needed. However I noticed that other trs do e briefing despite in pri levels too. Sadly some of e parents agree wif her 😢 but tis is a pull factor for me. I like how e tr can gif us an overview of e lesson, wat ey r trying to achieve, how to reinforce e learning at hm to support their teachings in class, wat's their target for e term, how's our child coping in class. I thot tats wat make LP stand out fr competitors. 🤷
The material brought back did not impress me, neither did e classwork. e compo ey did in class was v much 'copied' in my opinion. Though wen I chked wif e tr, she said those phrases were juz helping words, e kids have to form their own sentences. Ey can oso choose e phrases to use. Not necessary to use all of em. Thus e compo r not e same thru out the class. :scratchhead:
For e fees ey charged, IM tinking of trying out other ctrs. Anyone has recommendations, pls share. :please: Hope parents who have sent their kids to LP for many yrs can share yur thots too. How has it benefitted your child?

    • RE: Marymount Convent

Wishing all Marymount parents a very happy Chinese New Year!!! Huat ah!!!

IM v proud to say tat putting my gals in Marymount has been a great decision. It is a sch wif a heart. I have a fair share of trs which I din like, in case u tink IM in any case bias in my judgement.

E principal IMO is pretty gd. Every since she took over, i can c many changes. Fr e type of food sold in canteen to strong emphasis on a holistic education.

Last yr, my elder gal had v dedicated form tr (Mrs Lim) and MT tr (Mdm Yao). IM truly grateful for eir constant feedbk.

Last fri wen I met my P1 gal's form tr, we casually mentioned abt e awful bus driver and she really took note. Called me yday to get more details and VP called me tis AM to find out more too. Wif trs, VP and P being so concerned abt issues concerning our gals, I honestly believe my gals R in gd hands. It did cross my mind to trf my gals if opportunity arises. Due to PSLE stress, I will prefer a sch wif affiliated sec sch. Towards e end of last yr, i have changed my mind.

For parents whose 1st choice is not Marymount, I will urge u to gif tis sch a chance 2 c how our gals can blossom. Wif right communication and a willingness to work wif e sch, I believe our gals can thrive in this sch. 🙂
