ACSI called parents to inform about the COs/WLs on 22 Aug 16 too. No interviews required by ACSI.

Hope this info will help to alleviate the anxiety faced by DSA parents. Been through this very uneasy phase too, try to distract yourself by doing other things (internet shopping?). Jiayou!

Me!! Taught by Mrs Abraham in P1, 1 Orchid to be precise, very stern but good Jewish teacher.

The school was known as Stamford Girls when I was in P1-P4, and merged with the neighbouring Waterloo School to become Stamford Primary when I was in P5-6.

The F family doesn't even have the basic decency to apologize to the victims' families, still asking the press to ask we Singaporeans to shut up, and give them a break?! And merely asking the press about the identity of the female companion?


Still remember the fatal freak suicide incident in Bishan whereby 1 lady committing suicide landed on her neighbour, and resulted in 2 deaths?

The husband of the lady who committed suicide (suffering from depression) went to the neighbour's wake to apologize to the victim's family, with his children, all went down on their knees. It was reported in the evening papers too. They were also suffering from the pain of losing their beloved wife and mum, but they had the heart and compassion to convey their apology to the innocent neighbour who died coz his wife/mother landed on the neighbour.

Why can't PRCs behave the same? It boils down to the vast difference in our value systems, and how we Singaporeans and the PRCs are being brought up......really unbelievably selfish and uncaring lot of beings in that part of the world!

Not sure if its the right place to post this.

Still deciding what to sign up my kids for to occupying their time during the Dec 11 school holidays meaningfully. I have 2 boys, DS1 is P1 this year, and DS2 is K1 this year.

Looking for interesting clinic, say bowling clinic or skating etc for my DS1. Or any intensive swimming lessons for both DS. Yet to start them on any swimming lessons, mummy keep procrastinating. :slapshead:

Any interesting ideas to share?

When we got back to our block yesterday at around 5pm, we saw a lot of policemen and reporters taking photos, and the undertakers clearing up the corpse and the body bits (all covered up).


My boys saw the scene and they thought that someone fell down (coz I have warned them repeatedly against playing near windows without grilles). They didnt know it's a suicide case. It's quite scarying coz we usually take this footpath to the car park, as there are some snails and little flowers along the footpath (the grass patch). And he could well fall onto us, like the last tragedy. It's most unfortuntate. May he RIP.

As for us, we will NOT take the same footpath to the carpark again, at least not for the near future.....

DS1 is in P1 and we are enjoying it. So far school has been relaxed, giving the boys lots of time to play and do non-academic stuff. DS1 has a great bunch of teachers too. His form teacher, especially, has been very nurturing. But she's no push over. I salute anyone who can handle 30 boys in an enclosed space!

Hi MTS, thanks for the insights. Glad I've made the right choice Life is after all not just about marks. How's the school's chinese language teaching? My son is very bad with it (knows very few chinese vocabularies) and concern if the teachers are patient with pupils like him... I've heard of teachers from other schools, esp those native Chinese tend to shout at children...

So far, my DS enjoyed his MT lessons the most. He finds his MT teacher very funny and MT lessons enjoyable. His MT teacher (for Term 1 and Term 2) was a native Chinese (male teacher) and he's very patient and likeable amongst the kids. Some cheeky boys would even tease the teacher if he cut his hair or something \"老师，今天你好帅哦!\". Cute!

At the end of last term (Term 2), there's a 'Speak Mandarin' campaign week, and there was a theme every day, and the boys had to speak to their MT teacher and parent in Mandarin (about that theme) to get a signature on their card. They can redeem a small reward present at the end of the week, if they collected enough signatures.

BUT having said that, their MT lessons are indeed more relaxed and conducted at a slower pace than other primary schools. They focus more on generating interest and passion in learning the language, than rigorous drilling. According to my DS, on some occasions, they even get to watch Chinese cartoons (喜羊羊）during MT lessons and discussions in Mandarin about the cartoon after watching it.

I can imagine your excitement and happiness! Coz I did the same when I knew that my DS secured a place at ACSJ!

For a start, you may want to look at the school photos and the corporate video (which is a very good showcase of the CCAs that they offer and focus in).

Have fun surfing the school website, and it's a good way to get your DS to know more about his future school and environment.
