@zac-s-mum
It’s so unfair to those who really deserve the placement. If a student cheats during exam he/she will be considered fail I guess. Isn’t this even worse? Isn’t bribery a crime? Should revoke their certs at least.

Haha nope. Cedar is the closest IP girls school to our home. DD strongly prefers girls school while for us parents it doesnt really matter whether it’s coed or not.
Are u staying in Bidadari,
where Cedar Girls Secondary school is just downstairs right beneath your block,
hence your 1st choice school ?
I guess it’s just them being tweens/teens. -

Hi, it is a fact that based on cop these schools are more challenging to enter.
Like that ur DD n her friend can go RGS NYGS MGS ib....why short change themselves go school with cop 8? Wasted.... RGS NYGS MGS groom their girls differently ....cannot compare other IP schools imo.[/quote]
Different student will factor different considerations as well I believe.
However, in our case, their locations are quite far from home.
Thus distance-wise, it’s a disadvantage for us. So yea with 8 and over subjects in the Sec level, we concern it might take a toll. -

RE: Cedar Girls Secondary School
@coast and @phtthp, thank you 🙏🏻 for your detailed explanation.
DD got ESIS for her psle result (5D), however I was under the impression that IP school = Esis, so we put Cedar IP as first choice as it is the nearest to home and it has Vjc affiliation. My mistake…
O well, too late then haha..should’ve consulted kiasuparents gurus earlier I guess. -

Hi, I came across this VCA IP GPA table, just curious if anyone may know why for the Grade Value 4.0 the range is separated into two ie 70<%<85 and %>85, while actually both sets are given same grade value of 4.0?
2nd question, for the Psle ESIS award is it applicable until y4 or y2 only. Heard that “new rule” said that there will be ESIS test in y3 (info is not confirmed), is this true?
Thanks in advance. -

Hi fellow parents,
In relation to the Math paper scores, do pardon me to disagree a little with the part “a lot of children is affected”.
If I may use a pseudo-stat (very rough estimate), I have a parents group chat consisting of around 60ish parents of the P6 cohort in DD’s school.
From that group, so far I knew 1-2 parents intended to have review over the Math paper, which means roughly less than 2%.
However, this is only DD school and some friend’s son/daughter ‘s schools thus I do not know the true number as well.
I did not have the intention to prevent anyone to stop appealing for his/her mark though, just trying to express my opinion here. -

I understand. If I may summarize, interest then distance to travel need to be considered carefully. Afterwards, it would be if the student is able to utilize that lang in the future.
In terms of distance, it seems we are closer to Bishan than Newton, so there’s one point there.
For interest, I will have a frank discussion with DD. I am more inclined to German but if she is not comfortable with it then so be it.
Thanks for the rafflesspress articles above, they are really helpful.
About Japanese, eventhough DD takes HCL, however as it is a must to learn all the three ways of writing, I believe it’s not in our options since it may take up too much time to learn it.
Thank you so much everyone for your detail and thorough replies. Really appreciate it.
This forum is really awesome 👏
