What The:
      EllaEmma:

Can experienced parents advise the commitment for Maths DSA student? Thank you in advance.

Academic domain does not have commitment as per se, though some schools will class these together and coach them in extra maths training, sending them for Olympiad and other maths competition. In earlier posts, some parent mentioned that even so, the participation to these competitions are voluntary. But best to confirm with individual schools.

      Thanks!

If NCPS has a max-300 student, that does not mean standard has improved.

Let’s compare overall average when available.

      What is the school recommendation?

My P4 DD scored band 1 for her Chinese and ME for HMT.
The school does not recommend HMT for P5 in her report book.
We stick to the recommendation to give her less stress.
      For your reference.

anyone know if any school bus arragement for kids attending supplement or reminder class?

Everyday, there is one bus schedule for students who have CCA/Remedial/Supp classes. The bus will leave between 4pm-4.10pm. Students taking this bus must bring extra cash to pay driver/aunty. I think SGD6, cannot remember.

Check with Shirley from Poh Lee Transport for more details.

      Hi jetsetter πŸ™‚

Hi S-H, Thailand parliament is going through an amnesty bill proposal and if passed, it means former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra & others etc can return/pardon. Those opposing his return will go to street or already in the street protesting.

Ban Khun Mae will not go wrong.

Dine there with my wife last month, if my memory does not fail me, we spent less than SGD50 for this dinner.
if you want to PV, you must get a chance to be selected first. I find that Nan Chiau PV open door more to parents of existing students.

Grassroots might be a better bet since you don't need to be selected but to be actively involved in grassroots activities.

I do not think the school open door more to parents of existing students, simply because these parents do not need to go through phase 2B anymore.

They are the parents support group for existing students'parents.
I thought Lynn is referring to PV in order to qualify for phase 2B registration. Thus school will select parents who do not qualify for phase 1 & 2A.

anyone read this convincing piece? btw, who's calvin cheng? NMP? what did he raise in parliament b4?

      http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/singaporescene/another-workers-party-mp-055050532.html

Calvin Cheng, 37, was a Nominated Member of Parliament from July 2009 to May 2011.
      From Wikipedia
NMPs are supposed to be non-partisan but after it had been announced on 7 July 2009 that Calvin Cheng would be one of the nine people nominated to be NMPs it was disclosed by Today newspaper that he was a member of Young PAP, the youth wing of the People's Action Party.[56] The following day, Cheng wrote to the newspaper stating that he had formally resigned from Young PAP on 8 July, and that in any case he had been an inactive member, having never collected his membership card or attended any PAP branch activities.[57] This led to criticism that his attitude had been \"cavalier\" and \"whimsical\",[58] and that his remarks had raised doubts about the Young PAP's credibility.[59] The Constitution does not explicitly bar NMPs from being members of political parties,[60] and Gerard Ee was also a PAP member when he was an NMP. He did not feel he had to resign, as since he was not subject to the party whip he would not be prevented from expressing independent views in Parliament.[61] Despite these initial criticisms, The Straits Times reported that Cheng \"left the strongest impression on many elected Members of Parliament\", following speeches he made during his maiden budget debate in Parliament in 2010.[62] In his final speech during Budget 2011 before Parliament was dissolved for the general election that year, Cheng argued for the Government to educate the Internet generation instead of regulating the Internet to deal with threats such as \"misinformation and disinformation\", calling it \"pointless\". He went on to say that the Internet might be a \"wild card\" during the general election.[63] Subsequently, the Internet was indeed regarded as having played a crucial role in the election.[64]
