Hi parents,
I have been looking desperately around for this child size face mask 18.5cmx7.5cm but no luck. Does anyone know where I can get similar size? My 14yo girl's face is either too big or too small for the masks in the market.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Travel: United Kingdom - London
Hi, We just decided to make a stopover at London from our US trip in Dec. But the arrival time is on 23 Dec morning and leaving on 26 night. Have anyone spent your Christmas in London? It seems like it is not a good idea during that period as there is no public transport on the Christmas day itself. We can’t decide if we were to drive or just join tour on Christmas day.
Care to share your experience?
Thanks in advance. -
RE: Oversea Chinese New Year celebration
Dear mummies and daddies,
Has anyone been out of SG for a short trip to celebrate CNY? CNY celebration in Singapore is getting less and less festive mood.
I heard kukup is a popular place during CNY. Anyone has any experience to share? -
RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls'
Thanks Ganjiongspider! You have an intesting nickname

I have a boy from neighbourhood sch and a girl from sngs. The main difference was the amount of work they had in upper pri. My boy was really relaxed with max 1 hr school work in his p6 year. My girl spent minimally 2 hrs with one practice paper after another. Both made it to ip with their own learning pace and push from schools.
Sngs is really a good school with strong 姐妹bonding and my youngest girl is looking forward to join sngs. Just that this mummy here is not ready to see the girl struggle with completing homework again. i want to be mentally prepared. -
RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls'
I’m not concerned abt whether my girl can cope with the standard but more of whether too much work would kill her interest for learning and sacrifice her play time in lower primary. My elder girl transfered from neighbourhood school to sngs in p4. The amount of homework was killing as compared to neighbourhood school but because it was something she asked for and she was more mature in p4, so she did well. But i have concerns for my younger girl.
I would like to know averagely how much time spent on daily work for p1 and p2. Thanks -
RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls'
Hi, can I check with p1 n 2 parents if your girls can cope with the workload? Heard from my friends that their girls spend around 45min to 1.5hrs daily to do homework, on top of the challenging spelling for Chinese and English, the weekly project work and show and tell. I’m considering if I should put my girl in sngs or neighbourhood school. Thank

RE: Revisiting Policies and Schemes? GEP & PSLE
BeContented:
Precisely.
Best in subject, Best progress made : all these are measurable by results, ok.phtthp:
Top scorer.
Best in subject.
Best progress.
Best character.
Top sportsman.
Whatever award .... Whoever goes up, be happy for them.
It shows effort, it takes determination. It is a recognition as well as a form of positive encouragement to our kid to stretch and strive for improvement. Everyone deserves some form of recognition for their effort. Every.
Character is very subjective to assess ...
There are so many character values : integrity, honesty, perseverance, compassion, kindness, responsibility, courage, etc ...
So when you say Best character, out of 300 pupils per level cohort (eg : 10 classes of P1 students, each class comprise 30 students), if one child A show compassion, kindness to another classmate in school, another student B show responsibility in learning, student C show courage, D show integrity -
Then, which student (A,B,C,D,E, etc) deserve to win this best Character award, from this primary school, for P1s ?
As long as we people are always with the mentality.... unfair/not level playing ground/elite/rich & advantaged/influential/whatever, it's a never ending complaint over the possible flaw in system/policy.
But let's be realistic. There is no perfect policy, no perfect world. As long as we are not willing/prepared to trust the authorities to do what's best for the WHOLE country, there's no end to all these 'squabbling', which usually also has no perfect solution. Talk is cheap.
No matter how & what the relevant authorities (Teachers/Sch/MOE/ Govt) do.....there will be pockets of people who will be unhappy, feel disadvantaged.
In the little county aka home I govern, I tried my best to treat my 2 kids fairly......I set generic rules, I tweak some perks but yet they still complain of unfairness here & there. Wonder should I start changing the rules (that I deem is right) if they start threatening me that next time they will disown me (vote me out)
On a bigger scale, IMO LKY has done so much for SG and is a proven leader, still there's people (sadly mostly our own) who are not convinced and cast doubts on his leadership. Or who & who can do better. Really subjective isn't it?
As long as it's not the way one likes, there's always something to complain/disagree with isn't it.
Similarly, once all these subjective measurements are used to determine Sch admisstion, we will be back to square one.
Some will agree, some won't. Just like academics......
:goodpost: -
RE: CNY 2015
Just curious… what are your kiss doing during cny gathering? I notice the teenagers and upper pri kids are always staring at their hp, not much interaction. For our family gathering, the kids are gambling. How about yours?
