The st nicks website has updated last years' stats. 2 PRs didn't get to ballot at all. The ballot was for SC staying outside 2km.

Once balloting occur in Phase 2A1 / 2A2 : all PRs inside the 2A Phase impacted, got to come out.
SC are the ones, involved in balloting.

The only Phase that can still permit PRs to go in, is Phase 1 (sibling), because no balloting arise in Phase 1, unless one day government change the rule

Yes, because SNGS is a Full school, sibling children from the Secondary school section, can also fall under Phase 1.

There will come a day, when 2A1 need to ballot.
boil down to when : start from which year batch affected, with a huge enrolment of girls, born in that year ?

Hi, can I check with p1 n 2 parents if your girls can cope with the workload? Heard from my friends that their girls spend around 45min to 1.5hrs daily to do homework, on top of the challenging spelling for Chinese and English, the weekly project work and show and tell. I’m considering if I should put my girl in sngs or neighbourhood school. Thank

My kid isn't there yet but my opinion is, it depends on your child. Some children are faster and they can cope very well. Others are slower and can't. I've seen my friend who had one who can cope so well, take part in competitions, have time for other activities etc and another kid who can barely cope with day to day's work.

So you need to look at your child and see if your child is above average, average, or below average. If below average, please go elsewhere. She will just suffer there. If average, there's still a chance to be able to cope with the work. If above average, then there's nothing to worry about, she will do fine.

It's not just p1 and p2 work. There are 6 years to it. P1 and p2 are really honeymoon period.

My elder girl transfered from neighbourhood school to sngs in p4. The amount of homework was killing as compared to neighbourhood school but because it was something she asked for and she was more mature in p4, so she did well. But i have concerns for my younger girl.


I would like to know averagely how much time spent on daily work for p1 and p2. Thanks

Like what Mashy pointed out- I agreed with her it really depends on individual's kid's ability to cope well, fast or slow. It is really hard to gauge what is the average time spend on homework. Sometimes it also depends on the class teacher how much homework she is giving for the class. Some kids take longer time to warm up & get into P1 school pace but some kids can sit still and work faster & finish the homework fast. Some kids need constant supervision by parents, but some kids don't. I would advise you don't worry too much at this stage. Let nature takes its course. My gal from P1 till now P4, action still super slow. She is easily distracted, short-attention span and always very draggy in her school work. But one of her classmate able to sit still & finish the work within short time span. I would say the amount of homework is manageable, it really depends on individual's kids whether they want to finish up fast or not. I hope my situation will allow you to make the wise decision. I have a boy from neighbourhood sch and a girl from sngs. The main difference was the amount of work they had in upper pri. My boy was really relaxed with max 1 hr school work in his p6 year. My girl spent minimally 2 hrs with one practice paper after another. Both made it to ip with their own learning pace and push from schools.

Sngs is really a good school with strong 姐妹bonding and my youngest girl is looking forward to join sngs. Just that this mummy here is not ready to see the girl struggle with completing homework again. i want to be mentally prepared.

Well, the way I see it. There is a reason why St Nicks is so sought after and why results are above average as compared to the other schools. At the end of the day, no pain no gain. I do not see the need to send my daughter for additional classes outside of school because I know the school will push her sufficiently. As long as she is keeping up with the school work, I am confident that she will do decently in the national examinations. Helps that I am no tiger-mum and she doesn't have to do anything else. She understands that she just need to finish up the school work and the rest of the day is for her to play and do the things she enjoy, like playing piano and swimming.

My gal is really slow when it comes to doing things, whether it's hw, eating or even getting ready to go out! School has helped her to slowly improve her pace but there is still room for improvement. So it is not uncommon for us to spend hours finishing up the hw!
