Hi TAS,
Can I suggest something? For the creative writing book, perhaps you could sell it online? I would like to buy it and if it is sold online, it is more
convenient? More people can buy also as some of us parents may not be free to go down to the centre to pick it up as we do not live nearby. Just a suggestion.

The Alternative Story:
Would you consider weekend morning classes? Have been waiting for ages
In addition, if you are interested in an East location, we might have a
place soon (not guaranteed but quite possible), we have 2
tentative class timings that we have put up at the same link above.
If you could tell us your child's age and as long as we have 2
students of that age, we will start a class. However, all this is
still very tentative.
TAS
for your east branch, my PIL stay in the east and they help me to ferry my kids to tuition (I work during wkends too) they are only free in the morning for weekend, could you consider it? -
RE: CHIJ Family of Schools
janet_lee88:
CHIJ (Toa Payoh) is good, the secondary is also good, other than St Nics, IOther than CHIJ St Nicholas which is a SAP school, how is the standard for the rest ? Can mummies care to give their opinions pls ?
Thanks
think, CHIJ Toa Payoh is the second best- but this is just in my opinion as both my girls are there and I hear a lot of good feedback from the other parents too -

RE: All About English Creative Writing
Hi TAS
I am helping a friend of mine to ask about some things. I heard that there is a special project going on for the children in the area of creative writing. I heard that their work, if chosen, may get a chance to get published in a book, and the children will even get some rewards as well.
I think this will make the children start to take pride in their writing. My friendβs child is very unmotivated to write, she can write reasonably well but her plot is not well developed. She is from a "branded" school, and I think in her school, alot of her friends can write very well, so she gets demotivated.
Your location is abit too far for her, rather inconvenient.
I wonder if you have any holiday programs or one time off program for her to learn and participate in this project, to see whether her work can have a fighting chance of being published, or at least get motivated to write?
Thanks! -

The Alternative Story:
Hi TAS!
Hi iamyoung,iamyoung:
Hi TAS,
Thank you for your reply.
Just want to ask another question which is related.
What about 'United States of America' ?
There should be a 'the' infront of it right?
But why is this so ?
Tks
No problem
There should be a 'the' in front of United States because
there are many different states in different countries but here
we are only picking out the states in America, that is why there is
a 'the' in front.
TAS
Thanks for your reply! Will ask you if I have anymore problems in my English! -

The Alternative Story:
Hi iamyoung,iamyoung:
Hi TAS,
Can I ask,
People like to go to ______ Ion Orchard.
Should I put 'the' in the blank, or just leave it ?
I understand that 'the' is used to specific locations.
However, I was told that for this question, we should leave blank.
But isn't Ion Orchard specific ?
Thank you.
Starlight is right
Ion Orchard is the name of a place, so there is no
need for an article (a, an, the).
This is because when you are given the name of the place, you have
already pointed out the specific shopping centre that you want to go to.
When do you need to use 'the'?
- the: to identify/pick out a specific member of a group so that
everyone involved knows that you are referring to that specific
member
Example:
- I want to go to the shopping centre that is opposite
Toa Payoh mrt station.
In this case, there are many shopping centres, but you are referring to
the specific one that is opposite Toa Payoh mrt station.
You are picking it out from a number of shopping centres, thus 'the'
is used.
However, for your example, the moment that is a name attached to
the shopping centre- Ion Orchard, there is no to pick it out from
a number of shopping centres, as you have already identified it
by giving the name.
Hope this helps you:D
