Do science is better that lit. It expands the way one person view things. Good for child's future development. But tough to read.

The best is do both. Science + Lit = Scientific Literature 🙂

    • RE: Comparing Enrichment Programme versus Private Tutor

I think it depends. 1-to-1 tuition might not be able to have student's interacting and sharing views. If you really look into the benefits of group/tuition centres, some students actually learn from other student's mistakes that were being discussed in class. However, some students don't like the idea of a tuition centre as it gets noisy or if they are shy to ask questions in front of the class.

So, i think it depends on the individual. Let the child choose for him/herself.
Agree with you. But class size in tuition centre tends to be a bit too big for adequate individual attention. The best solution is to have small group tuition at home (ideally just 2 students who are already comfortable with each other).

Finding the right tutor is abt chemistry.

I once thot that I found the best tutor, ex-school teacher with a passion for math........wot a mis-match. I wouldn't go to her even if she tutors for free....

I prefer tutor who will take time to understand a child's weakness and tailor the program for each .... possible to get that in yr matching service? 🙂
Hi, would you like to share why it was such a mismatch?

Coincidentally, I have just put up a blog post on this issue at http://www.fulltimetutor.wordpress.com

Agree, discuss with your child. But, with your input example, if no physics, can't do some engineering degree. My girl wanted to do Combined Science, our question was, \"what do you want to do?\"..as doing Combined Science will restrict the university options.
      Hi plc,
how exactly does doing combined science restrict university options? what did your girl finally choose?

    • Which subject combination?

As parents, how do you decide on the course of study and subject combination for your child? Or do you simply let them decide for themselves?

Home tuition vs tuition centre, what do you think? I have a student whose parent pulled her out from the tuition centre, because she just wasn’t making any progress. Does this happen to anyone out there?

      Hi Jack,

      Thanks for sharing.
No problem - you're most welcome. Btw, as promised, I have posted a new article on \"fast track learning of chemistry - using the Periodic table\". (http://www.fulltimetutor.wordpress.com). Hope many will find it useful.

      Hi

Individual or Group tuition - which is better? In my opinion, the main advantage of individual tuition is that the student gets undivided attention. But group tuition can also be beneficial, as students can get group synergy from learning together - especially if the group size is small (not more than 4). And furthermore, group tuition is usually cheaper per student. What do you think?
