      Any good tuition teacher or centre specialise for P3 & P4 English specially in Creative Writing?

      Nanyang Education at Tiong Bahru CC offers Creative Writing and Math Heuristic Classes.

      What I like about the centre are that they offer small group tuition and that the teachers there are good.

      I take back my words. The teachers over there do not teach much, esp the newer teachers.

      Just take 30x12 = 360 (not possible), then subtract 209, then check if it is divisible by 7.

      Since 209 is not divisible by 12, she must have at least one question wrong.

      29 x 12 = 348, -209 = 139 (very far)

      22 x 12 = 264, -209 = 55 (not multiple of 7)
      21 x 12 = 252, -209 = 43 (not multiple of 7)
      20 x 12 = 240, - 209 = 31 (not multiple of 7)
      19 x 12 = 228, - 209 = 19 (not multiple of 7)
      18 x 12 = 216, -209 = 7
      Anything lower, not possible.

      One solution confirmed. Why so complicated?

      A square number must ends with digit 00, 1, 4, 5, 6, 9.

      In addition, if it ends with 5, then it must end with 25. this is because for eg a number (m5)^2
      (10m +5)^2 = 100m^2 + 100 m + 25 will end with 25

      It can be calculated that (b), (c), (d) and (e) will not work just by looking at their last 2 digits when calculating.

      boycott those centres that keep their own materials. Its amazing that in order to protect their own intellectual property, they have to take the materials back and this jeopardise the revision for young children at home.

      Those interested in Maths Olympiad classes, its best to go Maths Oasis as they have good trainers and small class. Another alternative would be learning interactive. (Take note that I am not related/affiliated to them in anyway)

      However, if the class size is too big (>10 students), then it might not be worth it as the teacher is unable to give enough 1-1 guidance. You might want to consider 1-1 home enrichment too.

      Find the number of ways to put 4 different coloured marbles into 4 identical empty boxes.

      Ans: 15 (my ans of 24 is wrong)

      TIA

      Your answer 24 is the number of ways to arrange 4 different coloured marbles in order. But the question is looking for number of ways to group the 4 different coloured marbles.

      There are 5 possible ways of grouping.

      1) all in 1 box - 1 possible combination only
      2) 3 in 1 box and 1 in another box - 4 possible combinations
      3) 2 in 1 box and 2 in another box - 6 possible combinations
      4) 2 in 1 box, 1 in 2nd box and 1 in another box - 3 possible combinations
      5) 1 in each box - 1 possible combination only

      So total = 1 + 4 + 6 + 3 + 1 = 15

      3) 2 in 1 box and 2 in another box - 3 possible combinations
      4) 2 in 1 box, 1 in 2nd box and 1 in another box - 6 possible combinations

      the boxes are identical so the way to put 4 different marbles in 4 identical is only 1.

      Thanks! Finally got it. I missed the key words. 4 different colours.

      Is this not permutations and combinations taught in A levels in the past? What would be the workings if done in the permutations and combinations' way for exams?

      4C4 = 1
      4C3 x 1C1 = 4 x 1 = 4 (because only 1 marble remains after you pick 3 marbles out)
      4C2 x 2C2/2 = 6/2 = 3
      4C2 = 6
      1x1x1x1= 1

      Total = 15

      Thanks, dazzlego.

      So, we have to wait for the school to choose the pupils to participate in the competitions?
      Which competitions can we register on our own, without the school?
      For competitions like SMOPS and NMOS, you must register through the school.

      Yeah

      first row sum = 14
      second row sum = 15
      third row sum = 16
      and so on.
