I am very inspired by Pam's story in ST but at the same time I dont know how to help my daughter to succeed in an unconventional way.
My 10 year old girl is quite smart but just not motivated to do her school work. The only reason that keeps her going to school is that she can play with her friends. She find school work and anything that requires a lot of work or involves exam boring. Her ideal school is one where she just go and listen to teacher teach but don't need to do homework and have no exam. :frustrated:
I have tried all means and ways to help her become an independent and proactive learner but to no avail. Her explosive temper and defiant nature frequently results in quarrel s between us. Despite quiting my job to spend more time with her, she continues to accuse me of being unfair to her and for loving her younger sister more than her. Sometimes I really feel so hurt by all the things she said to me that I would also say hurtful things to her even though I don't mean it. :gloomy:
I am really at a loss now. I don't think she fits into the standard school system that requires her to conform rather than be unique. Yet I don't dare to pull her out of school and home school her for fear that she will end up in a worst state.

I gave up on RVPS and RMPS (both equally slim chance of getting in). Registered for ZDPS this morning. At 1030 this morning, 151 registered, with 92 within 1km so looks like sure to get in since I'm within 1 km.Hi All,
Balloting For the Following Schools
RMPS = 1Km only.80+ fighting.
ZDPS = 1-2Km.
RVPS = More than 2Km. -

RE: [Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
Please keep us informed of RMPS status. I prefer teachers who are diligent in challenging their students than teachers who are bochap. If I can be sure of getting into RMPS, I will definitely go for it.
A neightbour of my mother-in-law says that Gan Eng Seng Primary’s teacher really bochap. Her son never hand in homework for 6 months and teachers didn’t even bother to tell parents. So if you go to a school where teachers are bochap, then as parents, you need to work harder to keep checking back with the teachers. -

Hi mimiof2
Nothing is official until the registration closes. By registering on the last day of Phase 2C, you will be able to \"guage\" the number of appliants against the number of vacanies available. If number of applicants > number of vacanies, there would be balloting. As to balloting at which category (ie. >2 km or within 1km), that I can't tell either.
But forumers here have given their views that RMPS is highly likely to go into balloting at within 1km range.
Really appreciate everyone's contribution. Think I will persuade my hubby to change his mind about ZDPS. All the uncertainty and monitoring are killing me. -
RE: [Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
Thanks everyone for your great advice. Honestly, I am getting quite stressed with this whole P1 registration exercise. MOE really should review the whole process. It’s just crazy to have so many phases and differentiation.

RE: [Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
Dear All
Can anyone enlighten me on how to monitor the vacancies at Phase 2C? I am aiming for either RMPS (1-2km) or RVPS (>2km). I see suggestions to register on the last day of the registration period but I was wondering how to tell which school will have more likihood of no balloting?
The MOE website and Kiasu parent website does not show the number of applications according to distance for each phase. Do I call up the school to ask at the end of each day? Will they tell me how many applications they have received for <1km>2km?
I am thinking of changing my plans to register for Zhangde Primary which is <1 km but my hubby is not too keen to have my daughter in the same school as his newphew. He was thinking we can just fall back on Queenstown Primary at Phase 2C supplementary if we are not successful with RMPS. Can anyone give some advice/ comparison between Zhangde and Queenstown? -

RE: 2009 P1 Registration Exercise for 2010 In-Take
Dear All
Really need some expert advice.
My daughter is due to register for P1 in Phase 2C this year. We originally had in mind RMPS which is within 1-2 kim or RVPS which is >2km but looking at the take up rate to-date and the historical records, it seems we will have to ballot for both.
I also see suggestions of monitoring vacancies before registering for our preferred school. Can anyone tell me how to do that so that I can decide if RMPS or RVPS will have a better chance of success.
Thanks in advance for all the advice.
