RE: All About Finding & Evaluating Tutors
Also make sure to keep a file of the work and materials covered by the tutor during class. If possible, ask the tutor to have a trial lesson with you. I have had many parents who have told me about previous tutors who don’t put in effort or are not consistent with their teaching.

RE: How do you plan tuition for 2 or 3 subjects?
As a tutor, I strongly suggest you do not overtax with back to back classes. the kid will be tired and will not absorb much. Its counter productive.

RE: All About Universities
NUS and NTU are over-hyped. She should consider going to a european university. Fees are free so you only have to think of rent and food. She also will get a much better education.

RE: All About Working With Children Who Are Weak Academically
I think the idea for student care is actually quite good. If you are at odds at your child to study and doing work, you might want to consult an educational psychologist. They can teach you skills to help you understand your child and therefore help their learning.

RE: How do you plan tuition for 2 or 3 subjects?
When it comes to situations like yours, I would suggest that you start off my planning daily revision and homework schedule first. Consistent work is always the main key for a getting a student to perform well in school. Tuition is meant to help the child fill gaps in knowledge and skills.
Also, in my years of tutoring and teaching, I think most parents do not know how to start revision. This is a whole new can of worms. How well is your child doing in school currently.

RE: Q&A - PSLE English
To go over is to move or travel somewhere. To go through is to analyse or discuss through something (in this context).

RE: 2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Goodluck8:
So true! And over time you can give your child more difficult problems. I like the Andrew Ser books for my students.peapot:
Hi my gal didn't do well in her math too but I m just wondering is it her or the tutor? This is her 3rd tutor.
I come across a tutor who gave me a way to improve maths. He said Maths is a subject which needs consistent practice. If a child gets to do 5 problem sums per day, in one month he/she will finish at least 150 problem sums (of course with understanding). If this go on for a certain period of time, the child will be able to identify which method is use to solve which type of questions.
I agree with him. My DD spends around one hour everyday to do Maths and she shows extremely good result during this SA2
