• RE: Pls help! - My gal seems to have split personalities

As mentioned by someone, Your gal may be seeking your "Full attention" towards her in home.

Also, your gal must be very intelligent because "She knows how to behave where". In CC, she knows her limits, because CC have teachers not parents. In home, it’s her dear parents, so she is trying to manipulate you and maid. She is with the same maid since birth, the maid also must be very dear to her.

If you want to seek medical help, dun go to GPs. They are not trained in child development and Psychology. You can contact "Child Development Unit" at KK Hospital or any other Child psychologists.
Heyya observer,

Kudos to you for pushing on, or else your kiddies may
have had to grow up without milk if you hadn't pushed
on the decision with formulae. Its good to know
that you and your spouse's effort to make them down
the Pediasure Choc, has made them grow healthily now.

As long as you don't YUCK in front of them when they're
drinking their milk, okay already lah...
In fact, the smell of milk with PediaSure really YUCKS me, but I dun show it with my boys. Otherwise they'll take me as a reason to avoid.
PS : May i know why you dislike milk... All flavours?
May be probably, when I was younger, my parents forced me to drink lots of milk.

In fact, I like some flavoured milk - Mango flavoured . . . But after the Melamine scandal I stopped that too.

Today morning I read - \"Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk, cancer cells are being starved.\" from a forwarded email on \"The Best cancer article\" quoting John Hopkins.

      No intention to scare anyone.

    • RE: Milk

My 2 sons, one in Primary 4 and other in Primary 1, both drink Full cream milk with PediaSure chocolate flavour, 2 cups, that's about 700 to 800 ml every day in morning and evening.

We follow this since they are age 1. Before that, other formulas. PediaSure can be consumed from age 1 onwards only. Unfortunately my wife dun have enough breastmilk.

Do you think they drink happily? They always yuks with an expression of vomiting. But we told sternly \"no escape\". Happy, both are growing strongly with healthy height and weight.

      Personally, I don't like milk πŸ˜›

    • RE: Can kids (teens) really multi-task?

The only multi tasking my son is allowed to do is hearing music in MP3 player while eating.

For me and wife, happy that he finish food without complaining (he's a damn fuzzy eater).

Watching TV and reading his school books - NO
Watching TV and reading his story books - Yes

So, we can allow the so-called multitasking in some area which doesn't affect them academically or physically.

    • Any specialised Maths tuition center?

      Hi Parents,

Do you have any idea about any specialised maths tutor/tuition center, who coach P4 children who are in GEP or school based special streaming program?

For them, apart from the normal MOE syllabus maths, there will be enrichment questions equivalent to maths olympiad and the standard of questions is a bit high.

Any inputs greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.

    • RE: P1 workload

      Different school of thoughts..

Somewhere I read, that one of the proposal forwarded to MOE Primary education restructuring committee is ALL exams should be abolished in primary 1. Instead the children should be weighed by regular class works, topical tests, assignments of varying grades of difficulty etc.

Personally I feel, one year end exam is sufficient for P1 and 2. My first son's school in P1 have SA1 and SA2. From P2 onwards have all CA1,2, SA1, 2. My last son's school have SA2 only for P1. The kids will be evaluated by topical tests, class works etc. We were informed of this in Orientation session.

For my case, it gives more freedom for my son in learning without exam fear or pressure. On our part, we have to make them understand and do the homeworks, check their progress from form teacher, verify their knowledge gained using their own books, build up basic grammar in English and MT, concept based learning in Maths. All this has to be done in fun filled environment. If we don't follow-up with them, we may be shell shocked when they come out with SA2 results.

My 2.14 cents (including GST) πŸ˜„

    • RE: P1 workload
Her school has only SAs no CAs, don't know whether is it a bad thing?
Good thing ... My son school have no CA1, CA2, SA1 and only have SA2. This will avoid the exam stress on him as well parents. Will allow them to learn at their own pace. The school told us that eventhough no CA1, CA2, SA1, they will measure performance by class tests and periodically report to parents.

HW - My son so far did 3 maths, 2 Eng and some coloring. Eng spelling list given and starts from 3rd week.

    • RE: Q&A - P3 Math

      Hi lizawa,

      Thx for explanation.

As you told this may be an enrichment question to test the children sharpness, and may not be a regular question.

Better way to prepare for Maths olympiad.
