My girl is dyslexic and is in P5 now, am both of us are worried as next year is her PSLE year.
She is currently doing all 3 standard (exempted from MT) and she just pass her EL, failed slightly for her science due to unable to complete her exam paper and her math she scored ard 32.5 with improvement of grades from mid term.
Till now school have not spoken to us abt the path she can be looking at and my girl certainly hope she can at least do NA and be in school nearby home.
Can advise base on such progression what are the possibility of staying on track for NA and school in Marine Parade area such as CHIJ Katong or any good school to consider for focusing on and does those school have high cut off point for NA and for kids like her would it even be any chance to opt for DSA via CCA?
Thanks in Advance.

RE: Haig Girls'
Hi everyone…
Anyone DD entering P1 in few days time?
I am getting a little stressed up now… I have started packing her school bag today and notice a few times which I am not too clear off and hope someone can give me some light on it.
Things to bring on the first day.
1) Student’s handbook to bring daily - is this a normal A4 white clear folder with 20 pockets? I can’t find anything else in white clear folder except this.
2) On the orientation book, page 3 there are items listed like the yellow, blue and red files for diff subjects, are we also to bring those on first day?
3) 1 White Homework / Communication file, may I know what is this? Is this the zip folder with a whiteboard, marker and duster folder?
4) Holistic Development Portfolio and Report Book, do we need to bring on the first day?
Please advise…

Mr XtaZZ:
Oh ya. Got abt 40 vacancies for Opera Estate hence it can be real option for Ph 2C Sup or even Ph 3.
pirate:
Since NAPS, CHIJ, HGS & SSS also balloting, the remaining vacancies at TKPS (less than 20) will be very precious in Ph 2C sup esp for Marine Parade/East Coast residents.
Still got Opera Estate...
Hope I wouldn't offend anyone.... In fact there is still Telok Kurau Pri add this location. Which if by looking at it,it is not very far off if take Opera Estate as the next nearest in nearby Marine Parade area, TKP is also available for consideration. -

No...sorry. was 2 nervous din ask:(
I had called and checked for you. There's 30 citizen outside 2km balloting for 19 places. So the odd of getting in is 2 out of 3. All the best to you.
Meaning no PR can get in and only SC for this phase? Or PR within 1-2KM also got in and balance seats is for SC beyond 2KM? Again this is my curiosity to find out....
Btw, the P of HGS will still be in HGS for a good period of time I hope? Cos I think she is doing a very good job in HGS in moulding the girls and their performance in the extended area out of academics, despite their academic performance over the past 3 years have dip in each subjects. -

phtthp:
MOE website show Haig Girls got 93 vacancies, 118 registered.
there's a difference of 25. Are these all SC, or inside got PR ?
Initially, there is 89 seats only and I believe parents withdraw and hop over to either TNP, NAPS or CHIJ Katong as there is a sudden increase in KCP registration today.
I hope those who last min withdraw wouldn't have to go thru balloting as I believe those who felt HGS was over spilling as by yday was alrdy left with only 2 seats and yet KCP was still with 22, seems more promising to get in without balloting. As they might have withdrawn from HGS as fear will have to go into balloting but didn't expect KCP also will face same situation.
I supposed the nos. 118 is including PR. How do we go abt finding out of balloting is required?
Still stress bat it since there is no actual info on it.
I almost wanted to change plan and withdraw my girl today from HGS to go KCP due to I felt KCP will be more strict, better English and affiliation to KCS, but after praying I felt just let God handle it.
Now, have to wait for news if balloting is needed for us.
Blessing to all who needs to face balloting and :congrats: to those who secured a seat for your darling. -

Latest update
PLMGS requires balloting for SC <1km. No chance for balloting more than 1km for SC.
CHIJ OLN requires balloting for SC 1km to 2km. SC > 2km no chance to ballot. I made the wise move to go Marymount Convent.
Update on Marymount Convent: Those that registered for Phase 2C all successfully get in. No balloting required!
I'm celebrating now, having a good meal!

I called the school at 5.30pm tpday and was told 54 citizens registered are under 2km (did not manage to get breakdown for within 1km and 1 to 2km) and 20 citizens registered are above 2km. All the rest are made up of PRs. Hope this helps.
out of curiosity, if it is over the vacancy, would those over2KM SC get in first or the PR below 2KM get in first?
I called up the school but they do not want to disclose. Just say to check the MOE websiteaileenoo:

RE: [Geylang] Primary Schools
phtthp:
I called HGS this morning at 945 and their admin is really friendly and she shared SC within 1KM they have about 30 register, and told me to monitor till 1st Aug and mention SC within 1KM should still be quite safe and wish me good luck.Haig Girls left 2 vacancies.
luckily Tanjong Katong open 1 more class, this year.
Those PR who can't get into Haig Girls -
can consider Tanjong Katong; still have vacancies.
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/#geylang
another 2 schools that have vacancies are :-
Canossa Convent (temporary holding at Circuit road, while upgrading going on in original school), and Cedar primary (located at Aljunied, Joo Seng area).
Cedar (co-ed) is a small school, open 4 classes. because small - so, is a closely knitted school, with caring teachers.
A lot of school bus fleet. Some staying in Whampoa, Bendemeer, Moulmein, Potong Pasir, Kallang area also applied.
She also agreed that this year their registration is higher than previous years and she sounded very excited and happy for the school. Which I feel is a sense of someone being part of the school feeling proud over their performance and effort the years which I felt is a good feel from her as part of the school.
She also agreeded that the school have more sibling in take this years and there are more female birth in yr 2007.
Good luck to parents looking at HGS and CHIJ KC.
