    • RE: Time schedule & life of Secondary School

      flametree:
      Hi there,

My daughter is sec 1 in an IP school too.

She's very busy too - project, CCA, homework and stuff.. But generally she seems to be enjoying herself. 😄
My girl is also in co-ed IP school.
Busy but she also seems to be enjoying herself.
SHe is also the chairperson of the class....her only grouse is that the boys are uncontrollable in class

    • RE: All About Inline Skating/Roller Blading

During the Dec hols, i enrolled my kids with Inline Culture.

$88 for unlimited lessons for 4 weekends.
Each Sat/Sun, there are abt 4-5 lessons.
To maximise the fees, my kids will attend at least 2 lessons on Sat am and Sun am.
On certain days, we even go back for the late afternoon sessions.

We alternate between East Coast (Car Park F) and West Coast. (next to Macs)
Each child is given gear and skates…just bring your socks.

Be warned, the gear and skates really stink, not hygienic in my opinion.

We ended up buying them skates and gear from the 2nd lesson.

We have bot new skates for my 8 year old so selling the 1st pair (which I bot 2nd hand from ebay). Let me know if you are keen to take over the 1st pair....strawberry8_8@hotmail.com
      Selling at $15 only.

    • RE: Do teachers in sec school usually mark homework?

yup, IP is supposed to train the kids towards the University way of learning.

But taking the A levels is :stupid: as I think it's 1-step back.
I hope the Education Ministry will shift all IP kids to take the IB diploma instead as IB is more broad-based learning compared to A levels which stresses rout learning

    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

I bought a 20 year old U2 (higher than exam model as height is 125-8cm) Yamaha for $1700 from Shelleys. This includes moving to your house and 1st tuning.

He also sources his pianos from Japan and recondition them himself.
He does not have a shopfront to save rent.
      His warehouse is in Eunos.

He recommends a friend who does tuning for $50.

Think you shd be able to get his number from yellowpages.com.

He also has a buy-back scheme for his 2nd hand pianos.
Exam model must be at least 121cm tall. For Yamaha, at means a U1 model.
Be careful as U1 models may be made in Indonesia.
Hence I bought a U2 as all U2’s are made in Japan.

    • French

      Hi

Does any of your kids take French as a 3rd language?
Pls share how you help your child learn the language.
My girl went for her 1st lesson and saw stars.
The textbook and CD does not do a English-French translation.
How to learn a 3rd lang like this? 😞

Any mother who has any supplementary aid in this subject, pls let me know if you are giving away/selling.

      strawberry8_8@hotmail.com

      thanks for sharing.
