Hi,

I curious regarding the IDP, students will do Year 5 and 6 at NP right? So do they join into Year 2 of the course in Poly?

I'm also wondering if the students who graduate with this IDP, will they still be allowed module exemptions if they pursue a related course in local unis?

Do you have any info around this?

Thanks!

Hi , I will DM you

Just sharing on the recent launched Integrated Diploma Programme (IDP)

Strong sale pitch? Strong influence by school or friends? Not at all.
My child scored well for her PSLE and qualified for IP route. But at just 12years old at that point of time, she was unsure if she wants to take A level or go to Poly.
Accepted SST CO and never regretted it. As mentioned before, it sure is an unique school, always been impressed with the school’s applied curriculum.
My child nominated herself for the IDP recently because of its enhanced learning experience - specialised programme and partnership etc. Her interest has always been in Biomedical Science. So imagine her happiness (and surprise) that the IDP pathway include this course. Note that among her closest friends, she is the only one that applied for it. So no one is pressuring these students to take up IDP.

This reminds me of my daughter, she cried every single day after each PSLE paper - total 5days (+ HMT). But again, she’s the type that would cry every year during exam, or over the slightest thing.

2 of my friend’s child 2015 PSLE candidate saw the Helen question and both confirmed they had done something similiar - the infamous $1 coin question as they put it.

One went into express, the other Normal. Now both studying in Polytechnic.

Edit:
Background of student A (express): No tuition
Student D (Normal): Tuition for Eng, math and science.
Both from same primary school, different class. Class A and D

Student D and parent went into stress mode. Parent rant alot which somehow made me freak out a little bit what if its my turn next? Is PSLE that tough? It got me worried too.
Student D got a choice to choose Express or NA. Parent insist on Express but some of us advised to go for Normal instead. Student went on to NA, completed his N levels and skipped the O’s. Straight to Poly. He done so so well for his N’s.
Some children are just late bloomers.

Oh wow! 😲 Guess this is why some parent rather keep quiet. My children already sat for their PSLE and when being asked about the papers by others, I’ll simply said “I think its very hard too” as not to be label as Arrogant.

Relax.
Be kind ✌️

Edit: Post has been removed 👍

I think it’s easier to list the autonomous schools that don’t offer triple science. There are 28 autonomous schools, I suspect at least 20 of them offer triple science.

I think this triple science thing is targeting an older group of market audience or those who ya-ya about being able to study triple science. Frankly, triple science has limited advantages (and losing a humanity subject is a huge disadvantage) these days.
Because during our mothers time (even up to today) people assumed those who take up triple sciences are smarter (very very very clever 😂).
But time has change... just do some google research. The best is to take 2science, 2humanities.

For a), they also asked for the function.

a) It is the circulatory system. It's function is to transport oxygen, food and water to different parts of the body and to remove waste materials from the different parts of the body.

b) Heart

c) Blood vessels and veins.

Lungs are part of the respiratory system not the circulatory system.

Oh yeah , I also put the same function .

However my child put blood and blood vessels
A) circulatory systen
B) heart
C) blood and blood vessel

Dont be, whether easy or hard, I think it is child dependent and perspective dependent. Frankly, I think either way (whether you/your child think the papers are easy or hard), one will be worried. Especially if one is not among the majority.

We expected science being the landscape changing paper. My kid just reached home and said he found the paper easy while most of his classmates found it hard. :? My kid is not even among the top science kids in the class!

In any case, it is over. What we should do now is to plan ahead. Think about what is the possible range of scores our kids can achieve and where can our kids aim (which secondary schoo to select). Bearing in mind that the COP may swing a bit more as mentioned by some wise parents.

Thanks for your encouragement to me always. Appreciate it.

I am just glad PSLE is over. Can focus on other things, like tidying up the house where there are papers all around. About secondary school subjects, about how to spend these 3 months where cannot travel overseas.

Ya, all sure those students who say easy is from?
TOP class for Math.
😂😂😂 Yeah, top in math.
Everyone in this forum says easy until a friend (son taking psle next year) exclaimed “wahh this year cohort henggg ah, all so easy. Read online forum all say easy chicken feet. Next year my turn confirm super tough.”

I was like (rolling eyes), Yup this year all student will get a place in IP school because papers too easy.

What is the advantage of splitting?

Seed dispersal to prevent overcrowding and reduce competition for nutrients, light, water and space, so that the young plant can develop more healthily.

My daughter got this wrong. She asked me right away at the school gate after the paper. Your child is right! Good job!!! 👏👏👏

I feel scared when i read this forum.

Ds find maths paper tough. :((
I am so worried that all of you find it so easy.

Hi Xueyan, my girl found Math paper tough too. Among the 4 subjects, Math the most difficult. Sigh!

I think those who said easy are those scoring high A/ A*. My girl dare not say paper is easy although she usually got A* for math.

Sciencs booklet B is tough though. Some of her classmate did not finish the paper yet they’re from the upper class. Wondering how the classes below hers doing. Must be stressful. 😥

Waiting for Sci papers \"report\" 🙂
My kid feels Eng , Chi are really manageable ( maybe compared to my kid sch prelims, where EL is higher level)
Math is easier than last yr 2019 papers ( 2020 Math seem easy , but may not be and when worked under stress, the qns can make kids sudden confuse a bit here n there - good crafted qn fr SEAB, seem easy on surface but may not be - the high Math standard for Sg maintains though this yr is special, - in fact my kid feel slight more difficult than eg Rosyth , Henry park 2020prelims)

Sci - past yr 2017 to 2019 had not been easy .. lets hope this yr is manageable too !
My girl felt english was manageable, but she found last year psle math tends to be easier 🤔🤔
