Hi,
Does anyone know which sch produces better O’level results? More well-behaved pupils ?
Clementi Town or Kranji Sec?
Thanks ! -

Hihi, trouble you to shed some light on this. Why is taking an additional humanity subject better than taking another science subject? I belong to the older group where triple science is looked up upon by peers as the smarties. Thank you very much.
I think it’s easier to list the autonomous schools that don’t offer triple science. There are 28 autonomous schools, I suspect at least 20 of them offer triple science.
I think this triple science thing is targeting an older group of market audience or those who ya-ya about being able to study triple science. Frankly, triple science has limited advantages (and losing a humanity subject is a huge disadvantage) these days. -
Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any student from this cohort who has scored 280 or more including HCL? What is his/her score?

Inserting my agreement with floppy here. I was a former \"smartie\" who took triple science. Sorry to ya ya. This subject combi never made me a millionaire anyway.

Triple Science main disadvantage is you can only take 1 humanities subject. Sometimes the school chooses the humanities for you (the main argument against smaller schools with fewer Express classes). Sometimes you get to choose. But either way, you die-die must count that 1 humanities into your L1R5 calculation for JC. There is no alternative humanities for you to hedge your bets on.
Hence the current trend that most people advise nowadays, is to take combi with 2 Sciences, 2 Maths, 2 Humanities. With \"2 choose 1\" statistically you have better chance of getting a better L1R5 total.
Biology is mostly a wasted Science subject. Time-consuming in terms of lab sessions, practical exams, memorizing tons of facts...and yet it is not a pre-requisite for the \"popular\" Medicine course in Uni. Chemistry is in fact the pre-requisite (as counter-intuitive as it sounds).
Chem + Phy keeps most options open. And so does 2 humanities. -

Because during our mothers time (even up to today) people assumed those who take up triple sciences are smarter (very very very clever 😂).

But time has change... just do some google research. The best is to take 2science, 2humanities. -
Are the children allowed to do 3 sciences with 2 humanities? Including 2 math and 2 languages, 9 in total? What’s the popular subject combination for IP now?

Well I guess the trip science students are still clever now. Just that doing double science does not mean you are stupid or less clever. And the thing sold to some students by tuition teachers is that you need the O level science to do the A level science, whereas you dont need the O level humanities to do the A level humanities, so if you are not sure, then do the trip science.

Oh and I want to add that for some school, if you do trip science, you must do 2 humanities, so you cannot do 8-subject trip science. It has to be a 9-subject trip science.

I think the triple science students are clever. I also think the double science students are clever. At the end of the day, black cat or white cat, as long as they can score A1, it’s a smart cat.
