• RE: The Limit of Consequences

With all the recent cases of child abuse taking place at various educational centres, what is your view on this? What is the limit of consequences that you can tolerate when it comes to disciplinary issues? Would you prefer the teacher not to scold your child at all and leave you to mete out the punishment instead?

    • Don't Leave Me, Sunshine

A very good reminder to all parents out there. Please spend some time watching this short clip; there are a lot of lessons to be learnt:

    • RE: Club Breadmakers

Normally how long can yr loaf of bread last? Mine only last 3 days after that will turn mouldy. So need to make bread twice a week in order to have bread everyday. Time is what I don't have. Not sure why gardenia bread or sunshine bread can last 5 to 6 days without turning mouldy.

Theirs probably include a lot of preservative to absorb moisture and prevent it from turning mouldy. Mine doesn't turn mouldy after 3 days if I keep it in a dry place or inside the fridge but the texture will not be as soft as the first day of course.
I wish to also assure all the parents (and also the kids who are here!) that finishing early does not guarantee high marks in the exam. In fact I would get very worried whenever my kids told me they finished very fast and spent the rest of the time of the exam sleeping or going to the toilet. It is good to be confident, but not over-confident as some questions are quite tricky and it is better to spend time reading the questions carefully rather than rushing through the papers and making careless mistakes instead.

Two papers are done and over with - now they are left with two/three more next week. Means half of the battle has already been fought! Ensure that they don't lose their stamina over the weekend as they need to continue to 'fight' next week! :rahrah:

      :goodpost:

I thought this is such a wet blanket for those who managed to finish early and savouring the moment of feeling accomplished.
Why would it be? :scratchhead: If they finish fast and know that their answers are correct, then good for them. There is no need for them to feel affected by my post.

If you think that my post would affect those who finished fast, then have you thought about how their posts on comparing who finished faster would have affected those who actually couldn't finish the paper or took longer time to finish? Is finishing faster and talking about it supposed to make them feel superior as compared to those who took longer?

I don't think I am being a wet blanket here; I am merely cautioning the children to be more careful in their work and to spend time reading the questions carefully. Anyway, there is no award for who finishes the fastest in every exam 😄

Actually found the Math paper 2 to be quite difficult. Some of the questions are tricky and the kids didn’t notice the ‘trap’ and fell into them, thus losing marks. Paper 1 is manageable though…just hope they didn’t make careless mistakes.

I bought a Borsch mixer at $199. Was retailing at $399. Not sure why there is a promotion at Courts. I used for a few times already, not too bad. Of course kitchen aid will have more horse power. Jtoh you may wish to consider.

What model is it? I recently bought a Borsch mixer too, but at 399. If the price really drops to 199 then really can cry! 😢

But I love the mixer so far - can knead bread (which my previous mixer is unable to do).

    • RE: Peanut allergy and moon cake

Usually the baked mooncakes will have peanut oil as that is one of the key ingredients to make them more fragrant. Snowskin usually use shortening so might not have peanut oil.
