Nebbermind:
There are 60 questions to be answered within 20 mins. The questions gets increasingly difficult. Most of the questions are logical reasoning based. Not too dissimilar to IQ test type questions.Isn't GAT General Ability Test?
I guess they can ask anything under the sky, ya? -
I have a qn.
If a gepper obtains less than 80% for his average in P6 SA1, does that mean that his chances for RI Dsa is almost nil?
That’s the impression I gathered after reading through some of the posts here. I know those ave less than 80% will sit for GAT, but unlikely that they’ll award any CO to these students?

Worriedpapa:
exactly.. but where can i find any sample questions to even take a look? any clues, guidance please? thank you!
Some practice will help as most girls would not be familiar with GAT type tests. It will be quite a shock for some girls taking it for the first time.tearsforfears:
Hi, I suspect this question has been asked many times before but i couldn't find it under search.. My DD is trying for SCGS DSA via choir and needs to go for GAT in June.. I know no preparation is required for the general GAT test, but to ease our nerves, I would like to know if anyone knows of any samples questions so i can show DD what to expect? a glimpse of how the questions look like, more to prepare her mentally so that she won't be sitting for a test cluelessly.. all i know now is from the GAT website and it doesn't have a single question as an example..
thank you for any feedback! -

Google search for 'non-verbal reasoning tests' or 'non-verbal IQ tests' and you should be able to find some sample questions. It may not be exactly what is used, but should give you an idea. -
Hi, I am not sure this has been asked before.
If my child is from an affiliated primary school and has received a wait list from one of the top schools during the DSA process. If we put down this WL as our first and only choice during exercise period, what happened if the WL is not converted to CO during PSLE results day? Can my child use the affiliation status and apply to the secondary school using the affiliated secondary school cut-off points during S1? -

Please see info in MOE's website:
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/secondary-one-posting/option-exercise/considerations/
Some secondary schools have affiliated primary schools. Pupils of such primary schools, who want to continue education in the affiliated secondary school, must indicate that school as their first choice in order to enjoy priority for admission to that school. Being accorded priority for admission to affiliated secondary schools does not guarantee admission, as it is subject to the availability of places in these schools. Furthermore, some secondary schools may set additional qualifying criteria for admission of pupils from their affiliated primary schools. -

If your child's WL doesn't materialize into a CO, he will be given an S1 Central Posting Form to apply. He can indicate his sec school choices then.Hi, I am not sure this has been asked before.

Thanks R3mom & jtoh for the reply.
ie my child can still use the affiliation status during S1 if we put affiliation secondary as our 1st choice (that is, provided meet the cut-off points set by the school)? -

You will understand better if you refer to the flowchart for DSA http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-sec/flowchart/

He is P5 now, SA1 results not out.
Hi Lurline,
I'm not sure if Plat or Gold awards means sure get the DSA offer, but definitely will have much higher chances to get into the selection rounds.
DS only managed Silver awards in his NMOS & SMOPS, but he managed to get COs from RV and ACSI, WL from NUSH. For HCI, I believe he failed at the interview round. Just sharing for your reference.
I will be letting DD attempt DSA this year too via Maths domain. While I read that she can be exempted from the GAT for one of the schools, that doesn't mean she's guarantee any DSA offer.....still have to go through the whole process. Shall wait till then to know the outcome.
Hi BeContented,
I've received ds results. As expected, he did very well for Maths (98) and science (90) but 2 B for languages. I think his total is around 81%.
What was yr child overall percentage when he applied for dsa thru Maths? Does it matter if the overall percentage is not high?
Thks!
