Man slapping co-worker in viral video taken by SIM student
-
firstly i am shocked with the behaviour of the person who slapped...and how could that victim just sit there and be abused ? since there is violence, shouldn't there be self-defence ? a police report is justified...even if the victim retaliates. sit there and be abused :slapshead: i must definitely remind my kids to defend themselves.

Yes. I told my boys not to be violent or physical and most importantly, never to be the first to hit others. Once you hit someone, no matter what, they will be in the wrong. However, if someone hit them first, sorry...they have fight back with all their might to protect themselves! ( of course, different scenario if bullies have weapons) :evil:bullies can sense victims and pick only those who won't retaliate. there must have been escalation, name-calling, verbal abuse then physical attacks. and like the guy who got smacked, nobody knew until someone exposed it.
the bottom line, we teach our kids to stand up to bullies and don't be bullies in return. -
I really can’t believe that the 29 year old just sat there and received the slapping quietly. Even if he doesn’t want to retaliate, can just stand up and walk off! This really reminds me of those slaves and coolies in the 19th and early 20th century. Haiz.
Actually a common problem in the workplace is verbal abuse. It is very difficult to draw a line between verbal abuse and reprimanding the subordinate. But it’s the same actually, bullying the weak. My ex-boss (a woman) used to pick on 2 of my colleagues, who are sole breadwinners, and the very quiet and weak type. She would say really nasty things abt them right in their face, aying things like "people like you will never get do the right things, I already knew you would can’t do it right", and pick on them, even when its’ obviously her fault. She always scold her people in front of other bosses to make us her scapegoat when she was the one who made the mistakes. And the way she scold people was really demeaning. And she only pick on the ones that dare not talk back at her.
Finally the rest of us cannot take it and blew the whistle on her and she is now history.
I think we need to teach our kids that while it’s important to be humble and learn, and getting reprimanded is ok, constant scolding and verbal abuse is also not right. Physical abuse is a clear no-no. -

verbal abuse is incorrect and in some cases, some action should be taken.
physical abuse requires urgent attention from both police and senior management...how could that person slap his younger co-worker??
how would that person feel if his children were abused in the same manner? -
:yikes: Yeah... my first reaction was also the same: How can a 29-year old man (that has most probably gone through NS summore!!) be subjected to such abuse without any retaliation? :scratchhead: :scratchhead:
Poor chap must have been a target for bullies ... -
Hope that this man will be punished to set a precedence. No matter what’s your position and how angry you are with your staff, getting physical is never justifiable.

Moral of story if you want a good intern get a foreign degree one. If don't want to be treated like this, get a foreign degree. :scratchhead:
