Comparing Pre-school English Reading and Phonics Enrichment
-
kiasu is the only reason? I remembered my kids had phonics lessons with kinderland, but that’s enough. No need for phonics enrichment. Is it to teach them to speak like ang mo?

Can anyone advise me on the following or alternatives? Please feedback on the centres and programmes below:
1) Learning Point - Thomson
2) LCentral - Sin Ming
3) Read In A Week (Phonics Read) - Toa Payoh
4) Alternatives
Also, how is above comparable or different from MMI Phonics?
Basically I’m interested in MMI Phonics cos it’s only about 10mos-1yr and it covers phonics to reading/words recognition plus all the rules. Fees wise MMI is also affordable. Duration and course length is also short. But sad to say, I can’t find a centre reasonably near Toa Payoh.
Thus gotta source elsewhere… Anyone can advise and help?? -

It's difficult to advise when I have not heard of MMI so I cant compare. I chose LCentral because their primary school program (exam skills) is good for my dd. But I believe the Reading program is only 33 weeks and your child qualifies that if he/she has a good knowlege of phonics first. If he/she doesnt then they have phonics program to help. Can anyone advise me on the following or alternatives? Please feedback on the centres and programmes below:

I thought it was jedamum? Well, we'll let them confess themselves :)
Happen to chance upon this only now. Yes, my older kids did J&E phonics. My P3 only started in K2 so only did 1 year. Meanwhile for my P2, he completed from intermediate to advanced and IMO has strong phonics background as compared to my P3.buds:
Hi, any parents have send their kids to Jan & Elly for English Enrichment Class?? Any feedback?
Yes, our fellow forumer MMM sent her child for Jan & Elly Phonics.
My K1 is currently doing intermediate. She started in mid of last year (nursery) (earliest time she can start as she is nov baby). I think they go by birth month of the child rather than level. Knows all sounds of letters and they are starting with the blending this term. I am continuing her as I believe besides those sight words, having strong phonics focus will help her to read and spell with ease.
J&E phonics is just phonics focus. Very solid teaching though it might be \"slow\" as the kids typically complete the entire program (advanced level) around K2. Also note that it is 100% phonics focus, it does not cover other aspect of english learning. So if you are depending on this program only to prepare the child for P1, I feel that it is insufficient. Eg. It does not emphasize on grammar, proper sentences,etc... To compliment with that, I am actually sending my K1 to LW english program. Just started this year and I find it a good compliment to J&E learning. -
Sorry just to add… I did put my P3 through their P1 english classes before but actually stopped as don’t really see the impact unlike their phonics program.
My kids are currently with BC. This is the 2nd year after moving from J&E.
But think they’ve re-structured their program to have better focus. The centre mgr has been asking me to consider but we are happy with BC at this point and signed up for full year prog so will stay put. -
Hi All,
Had anyone started the I Creative Learner (ICR) at the West Coast branch? Can share how good is the teacher at West Coast?
Heard the program would take 3 years from Age 4 to 6 before the kid entering Primary 1. -

Please, from now on... need to remember your students.
Or YOU may need to get that spanking in the office..
