On english spelling, out of curiosity, does this year P2 list mention anything abt unseen words?

Yes, there will be 3 unseen words. My dd said teacher may give from extra words she taught them and told them to write in My Word Bank book.

      I see. Thanks!

Last year, the FT gave words and the children has to form their own sentences with the words. Not tough lah, copable. My child thot its fun. FT did not have any word bank book w them tho.

Maybe your child did not buy the book. It was in the P1 and P2 book lists.

My girl is in P1 and got a 'english test'yesterday and from what she said, think its more to test if the kids are ready for P1..... tested on things like write on e lines and to spell abt 10 words. ... a total of 12 pages.....it really 'open' my eyes :faint:

Yes. It's the School Readiness Test. If it's the same as last year, later on, they may sit for an online assessment to gauge their reading skills. It's based on a US Reading software. Conducted beginning of the year and near the end of the year. It's not to be computed Into exams, of course.

So far, my boys have gone through a reading test every year. There will be a report for the parents to know how well the child reads/understands.

Are you referring to the test for Reading skills? I am not sure whether it was conducted 2 years ago. It could be a new initiative by the Eng Dept.

As for the SRT, all schools will conduct this test on the P1s. Some schools conducted it during Orientation. Most have to do it within 1st month of school. Usually, the teacher will not tell the children that it's a test. Some kids are already so ready that they treat it like a normal class activity. This test is to sieve out those who need to attend Learning Support Programme. Most kids are ok.

Yes, that's the one I was referring to. I guess I would be expecting it this year too. Anyway, I felt it was very helpful for me to select the right levels of books for my dd to read.
