      XXXX:
      GoopPwr:

this is the spelling component of a English paper -

      ......rlytheems of the climate...

so the correct answer is - rhythm . BUT, since the wrong word used ends with an \"S\",
wouldn't it be implied or correct to end the correct word with an \"S\"?
      i.e. rhythms ?

or, is there no such phrase as rhythms of the climate ?

can I have your teaching on this , thanks .

\"Rhythms of the climate\" sounds fine to me (as climate is the result of many different cycles over different time frames).

What is this exercise? Spot the misspelling in the context of a sentence?

yes it is to spot the spelling mistakes.

my son is telling me that since the error is in plural, the corrected answer should be in plural as well.

but I have no clue what so ever, and have not heard of rhythms of the climate, but have heard of rhythm of the climate.

      my son is correct ?

      Any clue ?

      Thanks so much XXXX.

        GoopPwr:

Mr Pang chose to keep quiet _______ his memory failed him and he gave an inaccurate account of the events that unfolded that fateful day.

        1- as
        2- lest
        3- held off
        4- held over

given answer is 2 - lest

I need help to explain to my son why lest is the best answer.

        Thanks very much

Lest means \"for fear or in case\". This is the only word that fits in the sentence as others do make sense to fit in. However, the verb after lest should be in base form and not past tense as in this case. This is not a good question. See http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/lest?q=Lest

        thanks very much !

His form Teacher remarked the same, that it is not a good question.

The birds are / were chirping.
The flock of birds is / was chirping.
