For me, I find that the P5 HCL is a big jump from P4. My ds1 struggled at times. I am leaving my ds2 to choose himself whether he wants to take or not next year in P5...that will be at the expense of going to the top 4 classes.

A few top classes hv HCL, followed by the rest doing Normal Chinese.

I did not hear about the 1 lesson less of other subjects for classes doing HCL. Where did your child hear this from?

Better go check with the HOD CL to confirm.

                  Thanks

The person has to perform well in the other subjects before he/she is allowed to take HCL. So the pupil would qualify for the top 4 classes anyway.

I know of one parent who insisted on her child to take HCL even tho the child struggled because she wanted her child to be in the top classes as he did well in other subjects.

There is also a top math pupil who opted to skip HCL, and thus not placed in the top 4 classes.

                    CL lessons are banded.

For a child who is weak in CL, we need to be prepared to work extra hard on coping with the sch standard. My boy has 2 CL tuition on top of I coaching him at home.

This is the price we paid for our lack of discipline in enforcing reading CL storybooks since young.

Maple leaf, the ceremony is still held in the school hall, but prize recipients are to first report at Hosanna.
