Serafiel, this is misleading as you only mentioned Library Club and CIP hours in NLB in the first place for the 20 points.

        Serafiel:
        Haha, there is!

        5 pts for CIP.
2X4=8 for attendance (which I got 2 CCAs).
Joined some slack SYF thing which I didn't even perform, because I was just carrying the instruments--2 pts.
        NDP performance: 2 pts.
3 pts for some enrichment course that school made us go through.
20 lor! Just nice! I planned for it 🙂
Carry instruments also can earn points, ah? How many points do the performers earn?

Looks like you have a poor planning then.
Attendance for 2nd CCA is not taken into consideration for points computation. Do try harder.

          <extract>
Pupils may participate in more than one CCA. Points are awarded for pupils’ participation in a second CCA at school representation level or higher.
Minimum attendance in the second CCA is not a criterion for points to be
          computed.

Hey, I'm not talking about \"minimum attendance\". Anyway, in my school, we do get CCA points for 2nd CCA. How else do you explain what it says on my CCA report? Besides, the instruments thing happened in sec 1, where all sec 1s are not expected to actually perform and so we are made to carry instruments. You think so easy get points arh? That's why I quitted that music CCA, lol.

              Hi,

Just wondering whether if a child is interested to join say, the school band, must he/she be already been a band member in primary school before they admit the child when they are in Sec or IP school?

Hi usaik, from my observation, it might help but not necessary. I have seen cases of in a particular CCA in pri sch but cannot get in the same CCA in Sec/IP. I also have seen cases where no experience at all in the CCA the child want to join in Sec/IP and yet being selected.

In Sec/IP, there are many criterias they look when when conduct the interview and selection. Hope this helps. 😄

                  Hi Usaik,

I do not know how things are done in other school, but in my kid school. The HOD has explained to my kid and a separate session to parents on the selection criteria. Having joined a similair CCA in primary school is not good enough. They are looking for talents. So you must have awards and achievements. For popular CCA like InfoComm, Innovation, Robotics, you must win in competition. Same for sports, represent school and win. For performing Arts like band the criteria is minimum grade 2.
HOD said anything less than Grade 2, don't bother to apply. And they will conduct auditions. So it is very competitive.

And if your kid do not have any of the above, the school will allocate him the less popular CCA. The problem is, your kid might not like the CCA. And worse, your kid hate the allocated CCA.

Example some kid just hate uniform group. Or to Dance club.

                  hope i answer you question

For my dd's school, they have just selected their CCAs online last Sat. For the main CCA, they have to indicate what prior training or award or achievement they have attained. I guess it has a certain weightage when it comes to selection when too many students applying for a certain popular CCA.
My dd sms me this morning and she is posted to her first choice, Dance. She told me another 2 friends of hers also got in. What I know is all 3 of them either won some form of award for their primary school or has joined dance/ballet for several years.

                    Yes it is competitive.

However, the students are able to change CCA along the way if the CCA they like accept them. For non IP school, this must be done properly and carefully so that there in no lapse in between as it could affect their CCA points at the end of the day.
