      Jennifer:

If u r looking at 'A' level performance, then NJC is definitely not the TOP school.

Based on this year's A level results, NJC is ranked in 4th position. So why is it not considered the TOP school.

      :scratchhead:

Pardon me if I did not use a right choice of words. I always thought THE TOP is the not same as being ranked 2nd, 3rd etc. To me, THE TOP means 1st position.

hihi... my ds is keen to enrol into NJC, taking PSLE this year. Read that the intake for female seem higher. Anyway, would like to hear parents' views about this school, after your kids entered it. I believe this is a wonderful school, but how as to compare to the others. what is special about this school? Should I DSA for him or only apply after the results are out?

Personally think higher chance for boys through DSA since after PSLE they'll usually get a higher number of girls than boys (due to more limited choices for girls IP schs..but that has changed in recent years). Each child has their own likes/dislikes best to attend the open house/tours to get a feel. I think all IP schs (if that's what you DS is aiming) are great to nurture students who are self motivated to learn. NJC is probably the top mixed IP schs together with Dunman High and River Valley High.

Thanks for advice. Do not have friends with kids in NJC so thought of seeking comments from parents with kids there. How they feel after their kids joined the school.

Too bad that we learned about the own house late and their school tours are full already. May try try the DSA path and see if it is successful.

Not sure what is the strength of this school but if they covers more on science and maths stuff, probably thisjis the path ds is keen to direct to... he does not mind the higher percentage of girls intake but personally I myself feel abit. Heheeee šŸ˜‰

Do note that the other mixed IP schs mentioned (Dunman High, River Valley High) also have a higher percentage of girls vs boys so it's not just NJC šŸ˜‰

NJC traditionally emphasis that the students do well in math and sciences but probably no better than the other single-sexed schs ranked above it and also NUS High. Again each school has its own atmosphere and vibe. DS seems happy for now. I also noticed that his class has good mix from various primary schools with many from neighborhood schs.
