Janet has her view, but I don't think it's universally shared. I have many friends and relatives whose kids, even if they grumble about work etc, are enjoying their school life overall. For my own kids, even though they were only in Singapore school for short periods, they enjoyed it overall. How a child reacts to competition depends to a large extent on how the family takes it, and also his own ability. How happy a child is through school is largely in the hands of the parents and the expectations set in the home. Childhood can still be enjoyed.[/quote]I agree with slmkhoo too.

DS enjoyed his primary school days. He said it is better than kindergarten :boogie: He likes going to school and didn't want to miss a school day even after PSLE.

Don't scare the children. A lot of things are in the mind. I always tell DS that his situation is not unique. There are other 40,000 children going through the same education system. If they can go through the system, why can't he?
