      hi hi,

I'm also saying >2km away... 4.4km to be exact! What are my chances of securing a place for my gal?

I'm catholic & my gal's baptized. I was in CHIJ (Convent of our Lady of Good Counsel) ages ago.... hope there will be some sorta affiliation... :xedfingers:

My nearest is CCKPS which is <1km away... will put her there if she can't get into OLQP.... (I'm just researching & studying trends right now. It's not for next year's intake) 😓

      All inputs greatly appreciated tons!

      :thankyou:

13 places left. Surely there will be balloting for 1-2km and >2km.

Having been thru a ballot and it’s the last phrase, i won’t take the chance a ballot.

hi hi! Many thanks for the advice!!!

So how does it work? When it's time for my gal, should I go to both schools to submit her P1 enrollment & wait it out or should I submit OLQP 1st & if she doesn't get it to submit somewhere else?

I'm afraid the slots will be filled by then.....

          :thankyou:

me too… having gone through one disappointing balloting, i do not think i will want to take the risk at balloting. and would advise parents who is unable to take the disappointment like me not to do it. cos i have not gotten over it! taking it way too hard!!!

est1892 - Thanks for info. Yes, i think with only 13 left, those outside of 2km will likely have to ballot. I was thinking of all girl school as have 2 girls but i don't have any near my place so took a chance on ballot for within 1km co-ed school near my place.

Went through ballot yesterday and thank God we managed to secure a place for our girl so the second should not have a problem.

ngla - Wherever possible try to get a place in school without having to ballot. I think school only allow earlier phase for old girl at same school and not another IJ? I am not sure about this. Best to call school itself. But if you can get a school which is closest to you, its best so save time on travelling 🙂

Many thanks babyK for your kind response! 🙂

I reckon too coz Im sure my gal will get in with 140m radius of CCKPS but was just thinking since I'm an ex-IJ gal, would like to have my daughter to study in an IJ school too... just my personal preference but I'm thinking it's gonna be a long shot since I'm 4.4km away from OLQP...

Can I kindly check how it works for the registration? Understand there's online now but still prefer the ole fashion going down to submit my P1 application. Can I actually submit in 2 schools & see which one will take my gal? I'm pretty confused about the 'phases' process & if 1 school is filled up, how should a parent go about securing a place in another school?

                Tons of appreciation in advance!

no you can only register at 1 school. If you wish to change, you can withdraw before the last day 13th August and register at another school.

The danger of a ballot in 2CS is if you’re unsuccessful then you no longer have a choice which school to send your child to. You can only go to schools with remining places which could be very far from your home.

Oh dear... so I need to decide which school to enroll her in, stick to it & pray for a miracle for OLQP then....

Hope they'll let me know early if I don't get it so I can quickly apply for CCKPS thereafter....

Might call them or even head down to ask what the chances are for my gal for P1 when the time comes when I head back to SG next year coz I'm in Aust right now...

Thanks sooo much for the input! Greatly appreciated!!! 🙂

Think if you are Catholic then you may get priority in the earlier phase when applying for convent schools so I guess your chances are better even if you are 4.4km cos you still have another chance at phase 2C should you be unsuccessful in the earlier phase.

Yes, this year they started with online registration. It helps I think for those who are not able to take leave or time off to go to the school directly to register. Either way, its your choice but going down to school, you can ask the staff for most updated status of the registration with regards to number of vacancies and applicants. Otherwise, will just see the updates from MOE website or here at kiasuparents 🙂

Hope you will get the school of your heart's desire!
