Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
I would like to know for parents who have mixed gender kids, do you tend to put them in a single sex school separately or together in a coed school? I have a P4 boy going to Tanjong Katong Primary, my daughter who will be in P1 next year has been accepted. My original aim was to put my kids in the same school so that they can bond. However, now I have some second thoughts.
1) I was hoping that TKPS would become a single session next year but apparently not, so my daughter will be in afternoon session and son in the morning. So that actually makes it more hectic for me.
2) My girl seems to be better at studies and more mature than the son so I am thinking if I should put her in a slightly more academic challenging school like Ngee Ann.
3) And if I lucky enough still to register her at Ngee Ann now she might have a better chance to start CCA earlier than wait until P3 in TKPS since CCA seems to be getting more important.
I need some advise about Ngee Ann compared to TKPS in terms of academic standard and justification of my thoughts if its worth changing school for my girl. -

Ngee Ann is a coed school. Hence, I'm not sure how that addresses your question (in bold).I would like to know for parents who have mixed gender kids, do you tend to put them in a single sex school separately or together in a coed school? Besides, it's a popular school which means the waiting list will be long. I doubt you will be accepted in time for P1. You can apply for the transfer and while waiting, evaluate TKPS suitability for your girl. -
Hi, i new here
Need advice
My son born in 2012 n p1 wil be 2018
There is two primary schhol within 1km frm my hse: rivervale primary and North spring
Any parents can give me yr guidance on selecton of these two school and balloting history -
You can find the balloting history here:
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history/
It looks like Rivervale is the more popular school between the two as it
requires balloting for phase 2C registration. while North Spring still has
vacancy after phase 2CS.
So it depends on which school you prefer, with the assurance that you
always have North Spring to fall back on should you fail balloting in
phase 2C. -
Tks for yr advice
Im consider going for PV at rivervale primary.
Any advice frm existing PV in that school like how they evaluate my contribution to qualify as a PV -
Hello parents,
Wonder how would you consider the following options if you have a boy and a girl? Greatly appreciate your inputs!
Option 1 - Holy Innocent Primary - Phase 2B > 2KM (it’s actually about 10KM from our place) - Affiliated with Holy Innocents High School (DD and DS in the same school)
[PM session and holding school at AMK in FY2018]
\t\t\t\t\t
Option 2 - CHIJ Primary Toa Payoh - Phase 2B < 1KM\t- Affiliated with CHIJ Secondary Toa Payoh (for DD) and Catholic High School - Phase 2B 1-2 KM - Affiliated with Catholic High School Secondary (for DS)\t
\t\t\t\t\t
Option 3 - Kheng Cheng School - Phase 2C < 1KM - No affiliation ((DD and DS in the same school) -

It's personal preference actually. Some don't mind separate logistics. I think most Catholics will choose Option 1 or 2. However, I need to point out that Catholic High usually ballots at <1km most years. So your Option 2 needs to be tweaked. Perhaps try Maris Stella instead.Hello parents,

Thanks for your view! Yes, I did consider Maris Stella but the school is >2KM but I will keep that in mind.

No problem. It’s not about how near you are to the school… at least with Maris Stella, you have a chance to ballot. With CHS 1-2km, no chance to ballot at all.

I just went to take a look at the balloting history for both schools. You are definitely right! Thanks!
