Chiak lat. I'm getting very mixed response from my friends with P6 kids. Some say easy; some say hard. Can't find a consensus...

I thought the responses are normal - those who know how to do (maybe exposed to questions before or just quicker in thinking) find it easy, those who do not know how to do find it difficult.......From this, you can probably conclude that this is not an easy paper afterall. It is probably not a difficult paper either. More like a \"reasonable\" paper that is set to test different standard of students, so there is a differentiation.

Personally, I think it is fairer to set such a paper than to have an easy paper whereby it does not differentiate standard - in that case, mean tend to be higher, T-score lower and kids with careless mistakes suffer badly. Actually I have not seen paper myself, just hearing comments and feedback and drawing some conclusion from these. So please don't :heresmyfish: me :siam:

My DD, whose best subject is Math (typically >=95 in a known school) says that both papers were hard, though she managed all questions with some lost marks. She thinks the gauge of difficulty is not based on whether she could answer the questions or not, but rather the amount of time/effort put in for each question in comparison to the past PSLE or other school prelim papers. And I trust her judgement when she said that.

              I think a few mentioned 4cm2 for qn 30.

I am counting down to the collection of the result slip. Three week to go. Can't wait to see what DD will get for

EL, though she didn't do well this time round. Selection of schools within 7 days is going to be stressful for us. We have no schools in mind just yet.

Hi! How do you know that your dd didn't do well?

Based on her performance strictly. She made quite a few mistakes which she should not have and would not usually make. Quite some marks gone already. Composition, she felt it was not as well written.
So my judgement is simply based on her personal performance so far.

Can anyone share the question for Q17 a & b please?

                  This question looks very tough.

                  Thank you.

My DD felt that this year's paper was tougher than the previous years.

The questions states that the bulbs are placed on the two breadths and one length of the rectangle, not the entire rectangle as illustrated
