Knowing last year's COP is already good enough to select your sec schools. Assuming all the top students flock to a particular school, even if the overall scores came down, the particular school will still go up. Likewise, if a school reduces its cohort, COP is likely to go up, regardless of the overall scores. Distribution of the t-score seldom change by drastic measures in any case.Does MOE announce whether 2016 scores were higher or lower, on average, than 2015 scores? How are parents supposed to help their children select schools if they don't know what the trend is from 2015 to 2016?
It's best to make full and clever use of the 6 choices. Some can be above last year's COP, but the last choice should always be reserved for a school that's around -3 to -5 from last year's COP. -

DD 266+2. NJC or RGS ? Never go to RGS open hse because didn't expect my DD to score above 255. Anyone can share your RGS open house exp? Is it a stressful school? Any feedback on NJC vs RGS? She is offered EESIS, is this only for 1st year if she chooses an independent school? Thanks
Congrats to your dd's good result. Just a side note, you don't get to use EESIS at all if your dd choose NJC, as EESIS ($200/month) will be directly deducted from monthly school fee for independent schools. NJC monthly school fee is less than $100 I believe. -

i was in the school hall yesterday and while there were some who cried with joy, some sat on the floor and they cried and cried. as a parent who witnessed all this, my heart was really sad. only 12, some could be only 11+ and they had to deal with this. -

The EESIS is for 4 yrs if she is on O-level track, 6 yrs if she is on IP track. -

Congratulations to all parents whose wards did more than they expected of them. Good that someone remembered to look at the other direction too. Importance of the T score is paramount, why not - how to get a good secondary school without it. However in cases where kids get so called poor scores and see disappointment is their parents' eyes, they are too small to realise that it is but one of the many ways their real worth is evaluated. They are only 12 for God sake. The world has just started opening up in front of them. They are about to discover many aspects of their personality that they never knew even existed. Good luck to all - 260 pluses and 250 minuses. -
