Have a query and hope experienced parents can provide some insight.

I notice that application for GAT test opens in early May. However, it is necessary to input P6 SA1 results to apply for GAT. So does that mean effectively you cannot apply for GAT until you get P6 SA1 results?

The application period for GAT is quite reasonably long - Most schools would have release the SA1 results before the application/ registration close. However, if you wish to apply for earlier GAT test dates (before the release of SA1 results), GAT allows you to apply for it first, before logging in again to update the SA1 results.

I will just like to add on to the professionalism and service level I encountered with Principals Academy (the firm which manage GAT). I made a mistake in the application of GAT date. Note that upon application, you can choose the exact date of GAT test you wish to take (Subject to availability, hence many students like to apply early so as not to affect their holidays and other plans). Upon calling Principal Academy (PA), they are very nice to make adjustments to my mistake. Thereafter, my DS has a high fever 2 days before the GAT test. I called PA to check on the alternatives and they are again very nice to suggest I take an alternative date. Luckily my DS feel better on that day to take the test.

usually around May each year, around that time of preparing for P6 SA1 exam :

parents & P6 students will get excited, start to gear themselves up, get ready for DSA (for those who are keen to DSA, into Secondary schools)

around May, schools also start to post on their website, information about DSA invitation, invite you down to their schools’ Open House, have a feel of their school culture, talk to the Teachers & Seniors there, and show you what CCAs they have to offer

Is it possible to travel overseas in June if my DS is trying for DSA into NUS High, ACSI, HCI or RI?
