Hi, my daughter is born in 2012 and i applied PV at Chongfu. I have gotten the notification that i was not selected for the PV, they only selected 20 out of 100 applicants, so im trying to explore the other option of volunteering through SHHK.

Would like to check if any of you are already volunteering through SHHK and if yes, how is it usually? I read on their website there are 2 types, Huay Kuan volunteers and School based volunteers...

Does it mean that other than the 20 the school selecting on its own, SHHK also has a quota for Chongfu?
It might be too late for you to get to P2B through SHHK. I believe they also have quota. It means even though you become a member, it doesn't mean you can get the letter to join P2B.

It happened to my friend. He became a member and he clocked many hours, much more than a normal school PV, but in the end he couldn't get the letter and had to register in another school.

          Hi,

Does Haig girl primary school has Parent Volunteer scheme? The school website has no mention of the PV.

          Thanks!

Haig Girls' haven't really been balloting for SC for a number of years. Why would you want to PV? To get to know the school better?

                      Hi,

Anybody tried PV at St. Andrews Junior? What are the chances? My son can get into NCPS as sister is there, so can I apply for both schools? TIA

I’ve completed PV at St Andrews Junior before. In the end, my boy got into another boys school closer to our home under phase 2C. No regrets doing PV though. SAJS has a very good PV program. It’s the only school (as far as I know) that allows PVs to help out during the PAL lessons of the P1 and P2 boys. I got to observe what happens inside the classroom every week, sometimes for outdoor/sports activities as well. How the teacher manages 30 boys (some with special needs), how the boys interact with one another, their topics of conversation (any swear words, etc). You can learn so much more about the school culture than at other schools which only let PVs be lollipop man outside the school.

So I suggest that u try doing PV to see whether this boys school is suitable for your son, or whether co-ed NCPS fits him better. U can register under sibling Phase 1 first to be safe, then withdraw if necessary because PVs fall under the later phase 2B. Cannot register at both schools unfortunately!
