Got CO from SCGS!! Maths domain! So happy cos this is the only school we applied for!

      :congrats:
Applied only one school? Are you from scgs Pri?

No, not from SCGS pri. From a neighbourhood sch. Applied SCGS cos convenient from our house, direct bus! And my girl not the academic driven type, i think she cant survive in the top sch like RGS or NYGH.

Where DS's friends will go is very important.

        hquek:

I would think that typically one school will call out stronger to the child (if not the parent). Both are strong schools and they have their own strengths. Other points to consider of would be logistic (how easy/hard to get from one to the other), cca, and very likely, who else has friends who are going in there. Whilst they will eventually make new friends, it helps to have familiar faces at least in the beginning.

Whatever it is, congrats to all who have gotten CO/WL. For those who didn't, your child has a fighting chance yet in the PSLE papers to come - work hard and all the best!

            Buddhist:
Assuming one has CO from both HCI and RI, which would be the choice?

Not sure about past years, but for 2017 DSA, HCI has imposed a very high standard for Maths & Science domains. Must be gold or platinum winners at Olympiads in order to be even shortlisted for HDP. Thus, there will have many top-calibre Maths/Science students to spur their schoolmates. Additionally, HCI has traditionally been known to strongly promote Chinese culture, language and values, which (in the current China era) is a big plus point. So I guess (just a guess) HCI has an edge over RI in terms of DSA acceptance.
To Answer your question about HCI has an edge over RI bcoz of high standard, my son is has CO from HCI and was rejected at RI 😄
It's not so straightforward I Guess. We are Indian but my sons Mother toungue at school is Chinese and he wanted to go to HCI since he went there fist time to participate in SMOPS. So for us it's HCI :rahrah:
