Other than Mr Ong, anyone know who are those better teachers and their teaching time-slot for P5?

I understand From my cousin that she sent her son there on my second aunt who mentioned the centre is not bad. She did not mentioned any other area so should be quite ok.

My DS studied at Success, but he’s doing the English creative writing. His teacher is the principal and also the founder of the school. She teaches very well but is very stern. Her classes are very big sized, about 30 students all packed in one classroom. One thing about the school is that it is very cold place. Must bring jacket. The school fees are also v reasonable, 220 per term.

ctrlaltdel and Monster mummy, thank you for the feedback. I was told the class size is between 10-12 :scratchhead: . However, their class timing for chinese creative writing is rather limited with one weekday class at 7.45pm-9.45pm and another on sat afternoon.

ctrlatdgl, May I know which level is your DS in? Is it possible to learn in a class size of 30? Do they write a compopiece each week?

                  Dear ctrlaltdel,

Does your child's teacher teach kids how to create tension build up in writing compo, or teach kids how to use creative phrases, during each compo lesson ?

May I know this principal / founder -
                  Teach which level ?

                  Thanks for sharing.

My son has just finished P3. The teacher is capable to handle big classes. Only her classes are huge cos she's highly recommended by a lot of mummies. But some parents might not like it. Personally, when my son entered the class at p2 level, he was completely lost and has no idea how to even write anything. Now, he is able to write one decent compo. So
I am happy with the results.

They write a compo every week, spelling every week too. Students are required to rewrite the compo as corrections. They also do some reading to learn some new vocab.

The tutor should be teaching at all levels, timing differs. Got to check with the recept lady which class she is taking next year.

As for teaching method, I don't really ask my son Abt it. But from bits and pieces, yes, I think the teacher will show four pictures, and go through creative phase for them to use in the compo.

                        2014 p3 (born 2005) creative writing (cw) classes :-

There are a few time slots, for p3 students.

Ms Teo teach one class - every Wednesday morning, 8.45 am to 10.45 am
Mrs ong teach another class. (Another day)

There is also another teacher, taking another p3 class.

                        From p1 onwards :-
                        ===============
All compositions discussed & written in class, are based on 4 pictures.

                        Every week -
The child has to write an essay and submit to teacher, at the end of each lesson for marking. Not allowed to take essay home, to complete writing. The whole idea of letting students complete in class by the end of 2 hours duration, is to train up your child to be able to finish writing an essay, under examination condition.

After marking, subsequently next week -
the cw teacher will return your child last week's essay done in class, together with comments & feedback, about your child's essay. Ie. exactly which area your child is poor in, need improvement.
Parents to review teacher's comments -
supervise your child at home to
Re-write whole essay, correct all grammar mistakes.

Each week, there is also spelling.
ESP. For p1s who are trying to build up their database of vocab, before they are ready to write one complete essay, in paragraph form. Many p1s come in, not sure how to spell. Some also can't read well, although there are also some who read very well. (depend on the kindergarten they come from) To help them, teacher give spelling, to speed them up faster, getting ready & prepared, to write essays.

                        Every week -
also got useful phrases & idioms for child to revise at home, so that
Child able to apply them in future, subsequent essays. Parents, pls help yr kid at home revise the list of phrases & idioms. Give them an example how to apply them, under what kind of scenario.

The new 2014 p1 Cw (born 2007, year of golden pig) on Saturday :-
Quite a number of piggies had already registered.
Some of them are from 2013 k2 class, while there are also new students who join this class.
The First Cw lesson begin today - 7 December.
\"Success\" new academic year start in first week of December each year, not start in January.
                        School fees are very reasonable.
