my daughter has a T score of 224 can she apply for a school with a cut off mark of 226 ? is there any chance?

What’s the last year’s COP? It should not be too far away from 2017 Cut-off

Hi my DS has scored 258, his school has affiliation to SJI, but my son wants ACS independent (IP)as first choice & SJI (IP) as second, will be get ACS or should I switch to SJI to be safe ?, kindly advice, TIA.
ravronsg,
Both schools are equally good. Both IP fees are similar more expensive then your typical sec sch IP coz both these schs eventually allow one to complete the IB Diploma.
As choice is IP, if your child select ACSI, he’ll not hv affiliation privilege anyway.
However, I noted that not many kids of this age will opt outside of their comfort zone of sch affiliation. So, what I see is he is keen for change & that might spur him to learn competitively. Just highlight to him it may be a double-edged sword i.e. he may missed his SJI buddies & not adjust to ACSI culture, tho there’s no worry of ostracism or bullying due to it’s strong policy against it & very tightly implemented across school.
Last year there seems to more neigbourhood achievers gaining a place thro’out Express & IP and every child given good opportunities to mix in CCAs, Projects, activities, etc. I believe this is a conscious & deliberate effort under MOE & govt’s direction to enable diff cultural/religious/racial mix tho’out every sch activity. In a sch year, within one class, they’ll be plenty of opportunities for students to select diff team members to work with & encouraged not to stick to same ‘buddy’.
IMHO, I wld allow my child to make his own selection & take ownership of their studies in their teens. If we impose our will on them, will they feel deprived & not put their best foot forward? Just for your consideration. -
Thank you Estéema for your insight

Well said. I’m trying to convince my boy to step out of the same comfort zone too. I will show him your post.ravronsg:

No harm trying. Cos it is usually plus minus 1 to 2 points. -
if my t-score is two marks lesser than the cut-off marks of a school, can I still apply and have a chance to get into the school?

Hi seeking consult.
Daughter is applying for secondary schools. 3 to 6 choices are almost just toggling up and down.
1 to 2 is a big headache. She wants a distanced school. We put that as first choice for her. Yet second choice is about few bus stops away. The merit point is higher than first choice. Do we put merit or choice first?
Thanks for your thoughts. -
