2019 P1 Registration Exercise for 2020 In-take

My younger daughter is going to west spring moe k1 next year. My elder son is registering at 2C and singaporean. Our house is over 2km from west spring primary school.
I called West Spring School to request how to put my son on waiting list so that both of them can go to the same school. The person in charge told me to put interest at registration phase 2C though knowing the chance is 0 because of the distance. Then once the result is out, go to the school to put on waiting list as this will increase the chances of being accepted. This also mean that we give up chance to register other school eg. St Antony, Concord, Chua Chu Kang primary during phase 2C and left with Teck Whye primary in phase 2CS.
Can you please advice? Thank you. -

Unfortunately, what the other person is true. Priority on waitlist are usually given to those who had balloted out first.

That said, you may want to observe the number of applicants first. If ballot occurs within 1km, I would suggest that you apply in another school instead. Reason being even on a waitlist, those who are within 1km and are balloted out will still be on a higher priority than you. -
Thank you floppy for your reply. The school usually needs balloting in phase 2C. Look like the chance of getting in is not high.

Do parents’ nationality affect the child’s chances of getting into the school during Phase 2C? We are PR, the child is a Singaporean and we live within 1km from the school.

No. It is the citizenship of the child that determines priority.

Every school’s dates for such admin/orientation matters is different.

The school will snail mail the letter informing you of the dates, roughly few weeks to few months after you get the registration successful SMS. So check your house mail box. And pray that Singpost mailman is not dumping your letters.
U can monitor the school’s website as well. Call up the office if you didn’t get any letter closer to orientation date. Usually Oct-Dec. -
