So your child choose RGS eventually? Median for Lit 3.6

Hi parents!👋🏻...Is there any commitments if DSA through English to RGS?🤔 Also, I will appreciate any advice on how the selection test and the interview was for English domain. Thanks in advance!😊

Strongly encouraged to try out debate or drama CCAs (but they won’t force you to take it up). To participate in at least 2 English related competitions yearly (NYTimes Asia Pacific writing competition, Queens commonwealth essay writing competition, ymca plain English speaking etc)

why would u want to take triple science? for medicals school application, u only need 2 sciences now..
                possible reasons:-
                1) the girls are highly driven
                2) peer pressure - heard 90% do triple sciences, so they feel that they should also do triple sciences?
                3) keeping options open - many don't have clear idea what they want to study in uni yet, or which sciences are they strong at. hence it is 'safer' to do all three and drop the one you are weak at along the way?

of course there are girls who are very sure they want to do arts/ humanities and not sciences in the future and choose accordingly, but these are minorities.

                  Hi,

I understand that 8 the minimum subjects to take in yr3/4. Do most girls still take 9 subjects though?

Also, it seems like the girls don’t do social studies at upper Sec. Instead they have this subject called ‘Inquiry and Advocacy’. Has this always been the case, or is this a recent development, as I thought social studies is mandatory subject at upper secondary.

                  Appreciate any sharings. Thanks!

Regarding Social Studies, because IP students do not take the O levels, some IP schools do not do Social Studies, while some other IP schools study Social Studies. It is not compulsory since they dont take the O levels so it is up to the schools to decide.

The ones I know do 9 subjects because if you look at the subject combinations, to do 8 means to give up one science.

Usually, more than 90% of the girls choose 9 subjects or more, and close to 80% of the girls choose triple science.

Actually, can still do triple science with 8 subjects: 2 Lang, 2 Math, I&A, 3 Sc. I think there will be a handful who would choose this combi.
