Usually people who go for balloting at 2C <1km Hong Wen School, if balloted out will just go to Bendemeer Primary at 2CS. Don’t need to be so complicated think so much.

For Hong Wen, this year's odds was rather good. When i mentioned good, its actually application of 1.87 times over available spots. in 2018, 2C was 4 times over subscribed. If you stay more than 1km, dont try planning for it in 2C.

For planning purposes, please start from 2A, parents school. then work downwards.
And please be prepared for 2Cs option and be happy with that backup. If balloting <1km in 2C still failed to get into the school, can we still change to registered 2Cs at other school? Not really keen on Bendemeer or Farrer Park ... looking may be around Toa Payoh or other area.

You can apply any school you want in 2CS. But in Toa Payoh, Kheng Cheng may not have seats left in 2CS. Left with First Toa Payoh Primary, you want? Bendeemer still better.

Had a colleague whose ds went to First Toa Payoh. He made it to NUS High. Another friend whose dd went to normal neighborhood school but went on to St Nics. My dd went to a \"good\" primary school but she struggled at PSLE. Hence, it's really child dependent. With good family support and child's potential, they can do well anywhere. So don't feel sad if you didn't manage to put your child in the most ideal school. It is really ok.

You can choose any schools with vacancies in Phase 2CS if you are not keen on Bendemeer or Farrer Park*

*However, distance priority remains in place. Hence, those somewhat popular schools in Toa Payoh or any other area, you are likely to have to ballot or totally no chance because of your distance.

First Toa Payoh has a really very challenging environment, will definitely need lots of family support.[/quote]Just to add, which is actually saying the same thing, that a popular pri sch does not guarantee the student would turn out good. I know a boy who did 6 years in Maha B, and 6 years in Manjusri (NA plus one year repeat). Got into MBS through 2C balloting. Another one from HW, ended up in Manjusri NA also.

Choose the pri sch because of other things it can offer, eg Chinese culture related activities, values, accessibility, certainly not by its registration popularity. Or if it is by its popularity, that’s fine, but not get into the illusion that popularity equals good results.

Just to add, which is actually saying the same thing, that a popular pri sch does not guarantee the student would turn out good. It's more of whether school A vs school B has more. Human tendency is that if school A has more, more people will want to enroll in school A. Over time, school B will naturally lose out to school A in terms of popularity.
