1. You are allowed to take 1 RA subject at RGS.
Could I also check how many subjects we're allowed to take at RA level? For chem and bio, what is the required GPA/ portfolio and how competitive is it? Will there be training after school? Does RA stop at year 4 or does it continue on through JC?
2. You are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.6.
3. Usually for Chem and Bio, it is quite competitive.
4. No, there will be no training after school.
5. When you go to JC, you will take the selection test again for the respective subject but instead this time you will be competing against students that come in through JAE to RI (JC). To add, just because you take a certain RA subject does not mean you can automatically take it in JC, still have to take a selection test again in JC. In fact, I know a few people that took RA in Sec sch, but could not take it in JC. I also read that usually in Bio (RA), there will most likely be more girls than boys (in JC level).
Hope this helps!
P.S You can correct me if any of the above information given is inaccurate! :celebrate: -

https://www.rgs.edu.sg/programmes/raffles-academy-2-0, you probably might want to check it out. And to basically summarize, RA is like advanced class, and only students who show aptitude(minimum GPA of 3.6) and interest will be allowed to take it(they have to go through a selection test first). RA is basically like studying more in depth about a subject.
I have the same set of questions...Anyone can share more about RA?Moonlight_foxi\" post_id=\"2002166\" time=\"1605007367\" user_id=\"189374:

For some RA, you can choose to do 1 or 2 semesters, it’s personal choice.

Hi parents, just a gentle reminder, RGS is having their open house today. If you or your child is interested, don’t forget to join!
-
Can current Y1 or Y2 parents kindly advise/shed some light on the following -
1. Average class size
2. Percentage of students from GEP
3. On hindsight, is RGS still your choice of school given that your girl scored very close to the COP of RGS
4. Besides the monthly school fees, what other out-of-pocket expenses to take note of
Thank you very much -
Average class size is 33 for Y2 classes; between 6-8 from GEP… expect bigger classes around 35 each now.
Monthly school fees must include additional $40 for miscellaneous fees. -
Will just meet cop of rgs be able to cope with the school work?

Don’t worry too much... my own personal view is that the skills needed to do well in secondary school are quite different from those needed to ace PSLE. A lot will depend on the child’s attitude, internal motivation and drive. Choose a school that has a good fit with your child, and do involve her in the decision making.
