It would depend if Victoria School is going to open up an additional class. If yes, the cutoff point may drop. Take PLMGS Sec for example, who would expect a drop of 13 points from 250 to 237? 1 more Express class was added to accommodate the 20% non-affiliated students. Well, if such info of how many classes will the stream offers matters to you, go check it out with the school by calling the General office. Victoria is a great school and I would expect the cutoff point to maintain the same or increase in my opinion.

Woodlands Ring Secondary School Is another school that experienced a 13 points drop in cut off points from 225 to 212 to due to relocation reasons. The school will shift from Woodlands to Yishun from 2021 to 2022.

Another 2 schools that increased by 13 points is Bedok Green Sec Sch from 188 to 201, as well as, New Town Sec Sch that increased by 11 points from 193 to 204.

No one can predict what will be new cutoff points but I’m pretty sure autonomous schools will be in high demand. The new AL score sets a limit of not more than 16 points to gain entry into Express course from 2021.

My advice to all P6 parents would be look at the school track record, timetable, school reporting time, academic support given - example some schools offer night study for O level students with their Teachers around, check the subject combinations offered for Sec 3 if your child is heading for O levels, CCA timing that ends around 6pm is the norm in secondary school, travelling time , CCA offered, types of programmes offered by schools etc. Check out the school websites to gauge how much info you can get. Well, that’s about all.

It is possible. If you want to transfer to another school, whether from express to express, or from express to IP, around end Sep, you need to call up the school you are interested in and register your interest with them. Your child will then be asked to take the school's internal exam around mid to end October. The school will then inform you whether your child has been successful.

It is not always that there will be an internal exam.
And some schools have wait list forms on their website, you dont need to wait till Sep.

It is possible. If you want to transfer to another school, whether from express to express, or from express to IP, around end Sep, you need to call up the school you are interested in and register your interest with them. Anyone knows whether the T scores for this year’s PSLE have generally gone up or down? Seems like some say down but others say a lot of their kids’ friends have gotten higher than expected.

My sense is that this year I have heard more kids getting results that are below their expectations compared to previous years.

Would like to have some advice. When you choose an IP stream say in SCGS but over the years may wish to do a transfer to another JC say in Year 5, any idea whether this is viable ? Or will it be wiser to just choose O level stream instead?

Short answer is no. MOE has made it clear that you have to follow through to the IP JC (which also means that no other JC will admit you).

I just want to add that I know 2 girls who transferred from RGS to St Nicks IP, they did sec 1 in RG and started sec 2 in SN. So this is IP to IP.

think this is a perennial dilemma to choose between HCI vs RI. My son's score is 267+3. think he prefers HCI, mainly cos his dad is an alumnus. but personally i prefer RI due to its proximity to our home and the later starting time in the morning (745 instead of 720 of HCI , which is a good half an hour more sleep everyday). i am also impressed by RI e open house last sat, whereby the students are mixed up in different classes be it DSA or GEP kids. whereas in HCI, i think the GEP will remain in GEP classes - correct me if i am wrong.
and this morning, we did our trial to HCI by using public transport. its abt 30-40 min from our place.

well we still havent' decided which one to put as first option. open for any suggestions and comments. Eventually I think I will let the boy decide for himself.

Personally he preferred a “Chinese-cultured” environment and felt RI will be too “ang mo” and not a good fit for him. Excelling in HCI and made the right choice as parents left him to make the decision for his choices. Reason is simple. The child is the one to study in the school, so let the child make the final decision and not worry for the child.

I see a lot of people advising to let the child decide .
My child has no preference , even after looking at the website and the courses/CCA offered . We don’t know what the school culture is like , only what we hear and that is so different depending on who we hear from

Thanks again.[/quote] it is not first come first served, surely the school will pick someone with good sec 1 results, when they are looking to fill a vacancy in sec 2 of the following year.
